Getting the Jeep ready for winter

I have a black car and we know what that means! Every imperfection shows.



After I wash my car I will hit it with some Final Inspection. It seems to me that FI is leaving a haze on the finish. If I really polish the FI'd area the haze will eventually disipate.



Is this normal? Anyone else experience this?



Anyone try Griots Speedshine? Equal to, better/worse than FI?

I use FI and also have a black car. Sometimes, I have to keep rubbing gently untill the haze comes out. It's not a problem at all. If the rubbing doesn't do anything, squirt another spray of FI to lubricate, then try buffing it out again. I've never had any problems with FI that required using additional spray, polishes, or cleaners.

I seems to me when I was at SEMA Meguires made it sound like the product was a spray o/ wipe off no polishing required kind of product.

Maybe I was expecting too much (or less)
 
What do you mean by "polishing?" Do you mean buffing? I don't think you mean that you have to use a polish such as Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion to get rid of any streaks from a quick detailer. That doesn't make any sense at all.



If you mean that you have to buff out the Final Inspection with a towel, then that's perfectly normal. Laters
 
Do you guys mean streaking. I use to have a black car and it seemed that I needed to buff a little extra or it would streak.
 
Try using less spray. If you do not wipe it off it will streak and show on dark cars. Try this method:



Spray wipe with one MF then finish buffing with a dry one.
 
I use Final Inspection on a Black Car without hazing. You could be using too much. There was a thread quite a while ago about Quick Detailers and cold temperatures. Was it colder than usual in your area when you used it. Generally FI is a very good product.
 
yes, When i first put on the FI it does haze after 1 or 2 wipes, but as you said it works itself out, I go overthe area several time with my towell... and it looks great,

I use it a lot on my black car.



There are 4 possible causes that I know:



1) You're using too much. You only need a LIGHT mist.



2) You're not using MF wipes



3) There's no wax on your car



4) The towel is too wet.



I suspect 1 & 4 are the most likely in your case.
 
Just completed the winter detailing of my Grand Cherokee. The steps I used were:

1. Wash using two bucket method and Gilmour Foam Gun
2. Clay with Blackfire Clay
3. Polish with Menzerna Super Finish on a white LC pad and a Flex DA.
4. Two coats of Blackfire Wet Diamond (waited overnight between coats).

The Jeep looks great. It's nice to get this done before the nasty weather sets in. Since I am from NJ as well, I would like to offer you one bit of advice. Since the winters here get pretty nasty and with all the road salt that is being used, you might need a bit more protection from the elements. I would recommend using a few coats of Collointe 845IW. It is one of the most durable waxes you will ever find. On top of 2 coats of BFWD, you should be able to get through the entire winter with no problem. Also, the 845IW is very inexpensive, and gives a very nice look. I used this combo on my Titanium Silver BMW 330xi and it lasted me the entire winter, and it is a DD that sits outside 24/7. This year I did the same on my Black Toyota Corolla.
 
Thanks Barry. I have a tin of Collinite Paste Sapphire Auto Wax No. 73SS. I was thinking about putting on a layer of that the next time I wash it.
 
Looks awesome theisab! If I'm not mistaken, I think the Coll 73 is a cleaner wax and might degrade the Blackfire a bit. I could be wrong though.
 
Collinite 73 is a cleaner wax and will remove the BFWD. You don't want to apply a wax with any cleaners over your lsp for that reason. If you are going to use Collinite to top your BFWD, try the 845IW, 915 or 476S.
