The duplicolor tubes they sell have the clear and color mixed in together. I think if your patient enough you shouldn't have any problems getting simple scratches out. ( I'd still leave the bigger scratches to a professional) Anytime I've seen someone mess it up is when they get impaitient and rush things. The sythetic cut with wool pad is a simply the compound and pad choice I tend to use on stuff like this. Pleanty of other product/pad combo's out there that will work just fine as well. I'm not sure on the cutting ability of the products you mentioned because I've never used them so I can't comment on if they will be good enough to get all the marks out without filling them in with fillers and such.
