Gettin' new rims, need product recommendations

Should I put Z5 on before I get them mounted and balanced or after? I was just thinking it'd be a lot easier to do it while they are off the car and I can do it in my living room as opposed to on the car. Opinions?

BTW... those wheels look very easy to clean and maintain.

I sure hope so, my stock wheels are too hard to clean since they have 7 spokes. I ordered new brake pads too which should cut down on the dust a good bit, too.

any sealant will work well... poorboys makes one specifically for wheels... or you could use any of the zaino ones (z2, z5, zcs), klasse sealant, etc... is that you're z? just wondering why the front lip is on such a slant? y didn't u go with Volks?

Volks are super nice but are SOOOOOOOO overdone in the tuner scene. There are a ton of great manufactures and wheel choices yet too many people go with the same things.

Wait. Those rims are made by Rays. Doesn't Rays Engineeering make Volk rims?

Nice looking Nismo rims and great looking car!

I'd put a coat on the wheels before you mount them and then one after. My reasoning: The tire mounters will probably get some dirt from their hands or some of that soapy stuff on the wheels WHILE mounting them. The sealant will make getting that off a breeze. Once they are mounted and balanced, then give them another coat. Dont bother with the inside of the wheels until after they are mounted and balanced.....They usually use Acrysol or some kind of strong solvent to make sure the weights will stick.

Yeah, and you might have a talk with them about what they use to clean for the weights' adhesive.

Way2SSlow- Heh heh, the FSM for the b-bodies says to *wetsand* alloy wheels before sticking the weights on

And too expensive for my tastes. I got a heck of a deal on the Nismo wheels.

Yes, Rays makes Volk rims. Thanks for the compliment.

Well i guess i'll throw in my .02 for the fun of it. I have some O.Z. ultraleggeras i keep in *damn near* perfect condition. I wash my car once a week and start out with the wheels. It's not uncommon for me to spend 30 mins on just the wheels and tires. I use 2 buckets (separate from the ones i use to wash the car), regular car wash soap (same dilution, maybe a little stronger) and a boars hair brush. Maybe once a month i'll use a water based wheel cleaner. You might want to get another brush to clean the inside of the rim and behind the spokes. I usually just take my wheels off every once in a while and give them a thorough cleaning. To dry them i use good mf. Actually the towels i use to dry my wheels are just as nice as the ones i use to buff off polish residue and sealants.

But the best advise i can give you is....DON'T CURB THEM!!
