Get ready to OD on HD!

Never said there was anything wrong with using Autopia as a marketing platform; I was merely replying to the statement that 3D never uses Autopia for that purpose. Also keep in mind that there are a multitude of ways to market products, and some are less "in your face" than others.

My comments were never intended to be taken as argumentative, I was simply making an observation. I've felt for a long time that 3D's practices are significantly more above-board than some of their competitors so I hate to see anything from them that could even begin to be seen as flirting with the more objectionable practices those other companies regularly employ. I have nothing but respect for Tunch and his team, and I truly want to see them succeed in their latest endeavor. If that weren't the case, I wouldn't bother saying anything.

Great input, I coudn't have said it better myself!

Hi Charles,

I completely get your point and you are right. I appreciate your comments and honesty. Out of 1.4 million posts if we have started one thread to share our excitement about a product that will be a "Game Changer" in the detailing world then we have been bad boys. But these kind of opportunities does not come too often. As you can see so far I have only 105 postings and most of them in the "Sponsored" area of our own forum.

Today I would like to announce that 105 Will be my LAST POST. (INTERESTING NUMBER).

Due to my staff's recommendation I shall not be posting in Autopia anymore.

See you guys in upcoming Autopia Gathering in an amazing location in Miami this summer and at SEMA Show in Vegas...

I wish everyone in this forum big success and happy days.

Tunch Goren

Tunch,

That is very unfortunate; Your input on products that you've created has my respect. I personally hope you reconsider, your posts have been a good contribution to Autopia and 3D.

A diminishing abrasive that will cut like m105/m101/fg500 first and finish like PO85RD using only a finishing pad?hehe

I think this is serious. My impression of Tunch is a straight-up no-BS guy who is honest with his products. I haven't seen him hype his products. He will just answer questions without any sugarcoating. It's interesting to read him so pumped up with this product and even made a guarantee (which is personally a no-no to me in everything) and put his name on the line. Low international shipping for the launch please. :)

Hey guys, just wanted to first thank Chris for his support. He is an amazing and professional detailer here in Southern California. And yes, I've known Chris for many years now and can tell you all he is one of the best detailers I know today so his support means a lot to me. Paul Wielder is also one of my very best friends and business partners in the auto detailing world. Paul and I have been training together now for over 12 years. He too is one of the very best technicians I know. Both Chris and Paul are my co-host on the radio pod cast show. They are both new to this forum and Im stoked they are on board the Autopia.org team.

As far as 3D and Tunch Goren using the forum as a platform to launch a new product I agree with Chris. What a great place to let the detailing world know we have something I think everyone should at least check out. I have had a lot to do with this new release and will tell you all that its one of the best things I've ever been involved in. I've been in the business all my life and have seen a lot of things come and go and this one is worth giving a good hard look. We have all experienced a lot of change over the past 6 years in a big way, some good and some bad. None the less we have to continue to deal with change when it comes our way.

Our industry has been set upside down with mass confusion, information over load and everyone is getting tired of the "High End" hype. So many of the detailers around the country are finally getting back to the basics and finding that the high end work just has not produced the income everyone thought is was going to produce. Many of you found yourself working your butt off, spending hours upon hours and even days of work only to find out not many people are willing to pay that price tag we all hoped to get into. Well, Tunch and 3D have always said lets keep "Detailing Made Simple" the forefront of our new marketing campaign and be sure to show people there is still a lot to be said for the basic and traditional detail... Tunch and 3D are not all about the hype, just being sure you have options available to you!

I'm really starting to promote the Autopia.org forum to a lot of people and am starting to see some of them actually signing up and posting. Very cool... Anyone looking to continue to chat with me by all means let me know. I would be more then happy to share the info I have, as long as you all wait until April 2nd... LOL...

Tunch, first of all I'd like to apologize if I gave you any impression that you have been, as you put it, "bad boys" for starting a thread to share your excitement, as that is certainly not the point I was trying to get across. As I mentioned before, the only real "issue" was that it felt at its outset that a "bandwagon" was being started from a perception standpoint. That had nothing to do with you whatsoever, nor was it a slam against you.

To be perfectly clear: there is nothing whatsoever wrong with 3D using this forum as a marketing platform, and I don't want you to think I'm discouraging that in its entirety; it would be unreasonable and inappropriate for me to do so. As I'm sure you're aware I am highly passionate about this industry (as you are as well) and about the atmosphere of this forum, and I'm very sorry if that has in some way been misconstrued. It has simply always been my belief that a spade should be called a spade, that's all.

Sorry, I see that your post count is currently 106... clearly you can't stop posting now. :shifty:

I truly hope you will reconsider that decision; as you said, you only have 106 posts in the entire 4 year period 3D has owned and operated the site, and as far as I have seen every one of them has been a valuable and non-intrusive insight into the 3D product line. It's rare to find a company where the CEO and lead chemist makes himself accessible to end users, and that would be a great loss to the community.

He had 105 while he was currently writing his last post. When he posted his final post, it became 106.

Tunch, your staff are great people, just don't listen to them this time! I love hearing from the actual creator of the product, the unfiltered words are invaluable.

I have been a member here for a long time. I may not do this for a living like some of you do, but it is a huge hobby that provides some extra income for me. I've seen this board change a lot over the years, some good, some bad. I will say that over the past few years I have felt like this is a good place to be. Good insight, less bias than before, honest reviews, and good advice. While it might seem that the original post was a little bit of hype to some, I dont feel that way. It's WAY better than some of the other forums I belong to, believe me. I am sure many of you feel the same. The 3D team was excited about their new product(s), and they were teasing us. That's all. I, for one, am excited to see what is in store.

I am not trying to offend anyone, but let's not come out with our guns blazing, accusing people of overhyping product or anything. 3D has done a great job with this board. While I have not used their products yet, I will soon, and I can tell you that I am excited to do so. From what I see, their products simply deliver. Period. Let the team have some fun. Personally, I feel like it's been a while since we all got really excited about a product line that works for ALL people...beginners to pros. Let 3D create some buzz...let them "hype" some things. You almost NEVER see anyone from 3D sit here and say, "our products are the best..period." 3D is composed of open minded individuals that promote their products, but know there are other great products out there. I can't say the same about other forums/manuf./resellers.

Can't wait to see what they have in store. I, for one, thank 3D for everything they have brought to this forum. It's a good place to be.

I also became a big user of 3D products APC and QD are great, I love the HD POXY and I have the HDUNO that I also like as a compound but I still use 205 to polish. I can wait to see the new line...The HD logo looks different, personally I like it better, it has more of a car look... Can't wait to see the new line on April 2nd....

I'm glad there is a brick/mortar 3D in Chula Vista.

That is how I got into detailing by walking into that store, can't wait for OD.

Tunch, I hope you reconsider your position on not posting here anymore. I disagree with your staff on this topic. Your enthusiasm and overall passion for the detailing industry is refreshing. Nice to see that it isn't all about business and profit, and it's great to have the formulator and owner of this company on hand to answer questions and field concerns pertaining to your products.

As someone who has interacted with you personally, I know you don't hype your products, but rather stand behind them. I have personally witnessed you describe your products in a modest and humble way. In this case, I think the intentions of the OP and your interaction w/in the thread were misconstrued for hype, instead of excitement. Sometimes it is difficult to convey emotion via the typed word on a forum, and things are sometimes misunderstood, misconstrued or misinterpreted.

Please reconsider you decision and keep your post count climbing.

:werd: Tunch was in no way "hyping" anything here; that much is certain.

I guess they need to start from somewhere.

Tunch, as a Autopian we need people like you on this forum. We need to hear from the creators of the products we use. And by Golly if what you come out with is better than Uno and Poxy we will all be in heaven! You are to be admired for developing the products we use. I can't wait till April 2nd to find out. A big thanks from all Autopians for who you are and all that you do!!!
