generator question

I'm trying to find a generator and am looking at the inverter style because of the noise and efficiency factor. The most I would be running at one time is a Makita at 1,200 watts and 1,200 watts of halogen light. I would also need to run a Mytee Lite 8070. I can't seem to find the total wattage requirements for this on the Mytee site, does anyone know?

I'm considering this Yamaha Yamaha 2000 Watt Portable Generator w/ Inverter EF2400iS @ Electric Generators Direct.com - Your Online Portable Power and Home Standby Generator Superstore

But I'm thinking I may be overworking it, it is 2,400 watts max. I could use only half of the halogens so they would only be consuming 600 watts. I'm also thinking that on some days I may have a helper and be running the Makita and a Ridgid vac at 1,100 watts, so that would be a total of 2,300 watts. I'm wondering if anyone has experience with this or similar generators. I'm thinking running so close to it's max would probably wear it down pretty quickly and drain the fuel tank pretty quick too.

I might have to move up to this model? I was hoping to avoid something so heavy but i guess i might have to.

Thanks if anyone can provide any advice. If anyone has similar generators i'm interested in what you've been able to run off of them. I'm thinking the larger Yamaha could power a small, maybe 1HP air compressor.

Hondas are ultra quiet too. BTW, I wouldn't push your power usage to the peak of the generator. If you're using 2300 watts I'd look at a 3000-3500 watt. Running a generator at peak won't work well.

Get the Honda Eu series. They are super quiet, and very easy on gas. They are not cheap but you do get what you pay for!!!!!

I highly recommend the Honda EU3000is: electric start, ultra quiet, and an intelligent idle that throttles up and down according to load. $1900, but worth every penny. If you ever sell it, you can get 85% what you paid for it on your local Craigslist.
