gas leaf blower for drying?

i have some gas leaf blowers and i was wondering if it would be ok to use one to dry my car. what im kinda worried about is the exaust, you think it might get into my nice clean car?

i have no idea how a gas blower works, but it seems like it would be super easy to make the engine "supercharged" by the blowers power, this would make the exaust come out the blowy end. now im just speculating remember i have no idea.

u think it would be bad to use a gas blower on my car, and im not talking showroom quality, but it wont ruin my car, or make it all dusty feeling will it?
 
They can bee too powerful. And watch that a vac/blower combo has nothing in the filter to fly at your car. But lots of people dry the cracks with a blower. I've never tried the whole car.
 
I use a leaf blower (gas) to dry my truck....it does a great job of getting all the trapped water out in the open...I do it quickly to get most water off..then I use a drying towel to blot up the remaining water...

it is a time saver...this year I will look for a electric one at the end of the season...lighter model..gas model is sorta heavy and cumbersome to to move around....unless you have a back pack type...lol....

but they do help make drying fast work..

I use a leaf blower to dry 90%+ of of the car surface & jams, and QD the remaining (which is minimal). For me, this is another factor that I look at in sealers. With some sealers, you could probably dry your car and not have to touch the paint with a MF (except the jams), others tend to bead & push water around and don't blow dry as well.

I've never had an issue using a leaf blower. Make sure the area surrounding your car is damp/wet to prevent kicking up any dust/debris on your paint. If you have the option, I think an electric blower is safer vs. gas (but I've never had an issue with either).
 
Has anyone used the Air Force Blower unit for bikes. I know that is it a small unit but was wondering if it is powerful enough for cars. Especially getting in the small nooks and grannies. Thanks for any replies. JoeD
 
One thing to keep in mind folks...if you use a blower and it has any kind of nozzles that attach by means of 'friction-fit', be sure that they are firmly secure.

I went to blow some dust/lawn clippings off of my car one time and didn't have the blower nozzle attached as firmly as I thought and when I fired up the blower it blew the nozzle right off.

Had I had it aimed at the car I would have dented it!!

Just a word of CAUTION!
 
I've used a gas blower for years, a big one that straps to my back no less! I've never had any problems using it, no damage, no marring.

Joe, I personally use the Air Force blower on my F150. Has plenty of power. Don't let go of the hose, it will fly around!!!
 
For the last 4 years I have been using a blower like this. ELECTRIC PORTABLE BLOWER - GARDEN - DRIVEWAY - (item 190134696925 end time Jul-24-07 14:32:49 PDT)

I paid 10 bucks for it at a place called Homiers in Huntington Indiana.
It has a long soft rubber nozzle so if you bump the car you will not damage it.
I have a electric leaf blower but they are to big and heavy and awkward to use.
This small one is ideal for blowing the engine compartment dry.
I have not used my big one since I got this one.

Since I can't tell what brand that is I can only say that it is the same color looks the same and it has the same rubber nozzle on it so I would think it is the same blower.
How many company's would be making one that looked just like mine ??????
The one that I have is made in China but after 4 years of use it is still going so if it quites tomorrow I can't complain.
Once you use one of these you will never fight a full size leaf blower again.

FWIW, the blower is available on the internet for $7.70 plus shipping. Shipping is based on your location through your zip code. For me, it would be $8.70 which makes the thing pretty cheap.

I use both. The blower will blow the water out of the mirrors the Corvette is really bad about dripping water on the door but the blower cures that.
It is great for blowing water from behind trim keeps them from dripping and great for drying the wheels any water droplets left on the car I blot up with a WW towel.
I posted about this blower last summer and a few said they were going to buy them but no one ever said if they did or not.

I just won mine on ebay at .99 plus $14.99 shipping so thats $15.98 to my door I will see how it goes. For the price you cant go wrong I feel.
 
I have been using this blower to dry the vehicles....its not big and does a great job....not as cheap in price as some here..but at 26.00 its been a great tool for me....

this blows it dry...I mean dry...I use 1 MF towel to blot was is left...

this may be a alternative for those who want it quick..

Congratulations good buy I think you will like it.
I think it weighs about 2lbs and really easy to use.
Most on CorvetteForum buy the 220 mph Toro but it is big and heavy and all you want to do is dry the car not blow the paint off it. :rockon
