waiting for that response too....

and I see you are using optimum stuff pretty much on a lot of your cars now....do you like it better than meguiars products, or are you just using it based on car conditions...

I go full on Meguiars for polishing on single stage paints, the trade secret oils really make a huge difference. I find Meguiars works better on softer paints or paint prone to hazing, like black G35s and Cayennes and also, oddly enough, on BMWs. Optimum is better on harder paints and removes defect more quickly.

by the way, do you ever detail a car that is in not such great condition???? every car I see from you is pretty much new, or only a coupl eyears old/old but in superb condition....

That is the advantage of being in business a long time and having a lot of regular customers. I maintain their cars so they don't get too bad in between details. But yes, I have done some really bad cars.

Beason-I have 3 full cans, and one about 85% full that I will give to my son when he goes back to his Mom's at the end of the summer since he and a friend want to do exterior details in their area on weekends for extra money. 3 cans should last me a good 5 years since I get around 70 wax jobs per can. On paint in good shape, Optimum Polish buffed off with OCW and topped with #16 is a killer and quick combo. :)

Yes, I will be sad when I run out but I will see what I can do about getting another tin or two, maybe see if Mike Phillips will part with his case of#16. ;)

BTW, #16 on a white Expidition that sits in the sun all day and I wash conventionally is still beading like crazy a full 3.5 months after application. Not bad for a wax that came out in the early 50s.

Scott- what do you recommend for a black 2004 911 in decent shape. Not excellent but decent. It is my car. I am trying to find the correct combination.

Thanks

As usual, gorgous work Scott!

The 330 came out very well and after seeing your results with OCW, I'm going to have to experiment with it. I just love the new color!

Honestly, there really is no way for me to answer that without seeing your car in person with your eyes. What may look good to me may not look as good to you. It also depends on what specifically you are looking for and whether or not you are willing to sacrifice some durability for a slightly deeper look or the other way around.

What you might want to do is go through my gallery and click on the black cars, I always list the products I used and see what appeals the most to you. I have 100+ pages of pics, so you should be able to see a wide variety of products on black cars. Check out some of the other member's click and brag threads, some products they are using might appeal to you more.

Great work as usual Scott. :wow:

Did I read that right, you topped OCW with #16? I always thought #16 was a glaze? Never thought about topping a wax with a glaze before.

#16 is a paste wax Meguiars has been selling since the early 50s. It was recently discontinued due to California's VOC regulations.

Thats an awesome reflection. I hear people still have some tins of it though.

i got 2 just for the heck of it. It might be like fine wine. I a few years it could be worth its weight in gold or worth nothing at all. But nice to have it.

Scott, incredible job!

What do you typically use to dress tires? (it always looks fantastic and a perfect matte black)

Second, can OP be buffed off without using OCW? (is it pretty difficult to buff off dry?)

Thanks.

I use regular Armor All and a tire dressing applicator that one of my customer's company's makes. I believe Griots is now selling it.

OP is very easy to buff off without using OCW, I just use it to add more pop to the paint and for additional slickness so the LSP I use just glides on.
