Full Detail - Lexus SC300

Anthony, I couldn't believe how bad that car was. No wonder the docs wife said to give it the total detail. The car looks like new again after all your work. I was thinking the same thing as Scott; how much time did you put into it in total?

You should enter this for the extreme detail of the month.

Wow, absolutely amazing! :up Those after pictures look like a brand new car! It really shows how dedicated you are to your work.

Howdy all:wavey

I take a bit of a nap then sign back on and man...what a response:)

My thanks to you all for the positive feedback.

It seems that I didn't go into great detail about the process so I'll try and do that now.

When I steam clean I use my steam vapor cleaner and then extract. As a cleaning agent I use 303's Carpet and Upholstrey Cleaner. What many detailers don't know is that about 90% of the grime in carpets is good ol dirt so 2 tools make the job much easier and turn out super.

A really good vacuum (wet/dry) and an air compressor. First vacuum up as much as you can then hit it with the air compressor. Run the nozzle into the carpet to dislodge and bring to the surface all the imbedded sand and such. You'll be amazed and all the stuff the vacuum can't reach.

After this I then misted on the cleaner, let it dwell for a few minutes then hit it with my steam vapor cleaner. There is a nifty attachment that came with my steamer that allows me to secure a towel over the nozzle. I first use it without the towel, go over the carpets thoroughly then I use my extractor to inject clean rinse water into the carpet and then extract out the funk. Then I place a clean MF over the steamer attachment and go over the carpets once more. This usually removes all stains and grime and leaves the carpets pretty much dry to the touch.

The same goes for seats. I clean the seats with Deep Down and then while the seat is still wet from the cleaner I go over the seat with the steamer/mf attachment. This deep cleans the poors and gives me leather with open pores, which I then use Leather Master "Vital" leather creme to condition.

The Leather Master Vital is awesome stuff. The leather in this SC was so dry and brittle but 2 applications of the Vital gave it a great soft feeling, very pliable now.

The dash board, console, door panels and headliner were all cleaned with my steam vapor cleaner. Not only does it clean but also sanitizes as it cleans:xyxthumbs

After I cleaned the vinyl it was treated with Optimum's Protectant Plus. I don't usually dress these areas but because it was so dry in the interior I thought I would give this dressing a shot. I was pleased with it, easy to apply, very low sheen, no smell and does not leave a slippery surface behind.

The wood trim was polished with FPII and then gone over with OCW.

DOOR JAMBS

Someone had asked about the door jambs....well I sprayed these areas down with some de-greaser and then once again broke out my steamer. These door jambs took along time to get really clean as there are some pretty tight spaces in there. I had to literally throw away 3 mf's because they got so greasy....they were toast:( I then applied some OCW to as much of the metal pieces as I could reach......I also Q-tipped a few areas. To me a clean car is ruined when you open the door and the door jambs are filth:down

As for the wheels, they were cleaned with TOL's Wheel Wash then polished (Thanks to my beautiful wife for polishing the wheels and cleaning the seats:D ) with VM.

I put in a total of about 13 hours into this beast. I will talk with the doctors tomorrow and see if they were pleased...as the bill was close to $500:shocked

If I missed anything or if you have other questions please feel free to ask, thanks again!

Someone else also suggested this as a "contest" entry and while I thank you all for viewing it as such, I just don't wish to enter that contest because I think it should be for those on Autopia who are not pro's.

I like the idea that weekend warriors and enthusiasts can share their hard work with us all and even win a nice prize:xyxthumbs

Thanks again though for the "nomination":D

Anthony

Anthony,

Once again, AWSOME!!! :bow :bow :bow

You took that car from filth to mega clean & shiny!

Keep posting these unreal pics! :xyxthumbs

Cheers,

Chris and AMP,

Thanks alot for the kind words and I'll be sure to get up some more pictures I just hope it's not another car like this one anytime soon!

My thoughts exactly and why I've never submitted anything. We get paid to do this and are expected to achieve good results even with trashed cars. I am much more impressed with the typical Autopain weekend warrior bringing a car back from the dead.

Great job.

I love your attention to even the smallest details.

Well thank you:).....how are things down under?

Anthony

Nice work as usual Anthony. Never fail to amaze me.

AMAZING TRANSFORMATION.

I have a question, on your steps, you mention using Steam cleaner to clean the consoles, air vents. Would there be danger / harm done to the console (Especially since its near the gear) because you are using heat and water.

Do you use any chemicals or just steam and Good ol' Microfiber.

thank you

Outstanding work Anthony! I can't believe how clean the carpets look!

Question: What is the brand of your steam vapor cleaner? Any idea where i can get some info on one?

wow that was some turnaround! I couldnt believe how well executed it was.

500 bucks is alot of money but it does show how much you spent on the car. So was the body just wash/clay/polish/wax ?

JJ

It never ceases to amaze me the level of neglect that people let their cars go to......what a transformation Anthony! Absolutely superb job. Now that is what FULL detail is all about.....

mickg

Do you have a pic of the steamer?

I have one of those $50 steamers that I blast stains with and use in cracks and plastic where sticky gunk has built up. It liquifies it so I can wipe it away without harming anything.

I have attachments, but am curious to see what you use.

Thanks.

I'll answer all questions later....thanks for the responses......they are going to cut our electricity for an hour while they replace a transformer.....

Adios,

Anthony

Anthony, that is unbelieveable! I just love the transformation and the process it entails. That car reminds of the time when to me a car was just a car, and if I washed it at all it was with dishwashing detergent.
