I created a small web page showing pics and the process.

Here's a few pics of the final product:

Here is a link to the site with the process:

2006 Lexus IS250 AWD detail

One thing I am a little confused about and if anyone can provide input, great, if not, okay too.

I started with OP, and finished with 106ff. The 106ff didn't cut in this paint like I wanted it to. The OP seemed to cut more, and I wanted that deep shine that the 106ff provides. Anything that I could have done differently?

I tried a few things with this paint. SSR1 - not enough, SSR2.5 - too much. #80 didn't do much more than OP either. :nixweiss

Anyway, enjoy!

Looks great now!!!!

Do you think most of the swirls where caused by the machine wash? If so I would suggest QEW washing next winter in the garage.

IMO 106ff needs to be used with a rotary to get some real defect removal done.

I do think most of the swirls were caused by the car wash itself, as well as towels used after the wash.

That door reflection is freaking amazing. I love that picture out of all of them!

Thanks, I agree. The Menzerna has to be responsible for that...

That's just gorgeous...

Wow Nice

Need to put a 56k warning on that website, even my weak T1 was struggling with some of the pages :)

That reflection shot is like you took a pic of the actual scene with a good camera phone.

Valentine FTW :D

Awesome job! How long of a work time are you looking at with the PO106FF and the PC??? And is the green edge pad similar to a White LC pad??? I just purchased some Meg's APC and it seems to be a very versatile product, I didn't really know you could use it on wheels (Is it safe when diluted say 10:1??).

The car looks fantastic though, I've been debating on whether or not to buy some Sourveran for my car and a "nice" cars that I detail and I think I'm gonna make the leap :chuckle:

I was also wondering, where do you purchase the 106FF and why is it so expensive, I know that its an extremely fine polish and can help soft paints (I wish I would have had it for the Black Acura NSX I did a couple weeks ago!) but other than that I'm not sure why its priced as is?

:wow: Your car turned out really nice!

If you want a little more depth, you can mix 30% Clearkote Red Machine Glaze into a smaller bottle of 106FF to use as your final polish.

I worked the 106ff probably for about 4 minutes max.

Here, I think the Edge green pad and the LC green pad are pretty even. As per conversations that I have had with Aaron at Edge, the pad order (most cut to least cut) goes: Orange > Yellow > Green > White > Blue

I have my Meguiars APC dilluted at a 1:10 ratio, I also purchased this bottle to do the ratio splitting: http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/classic-motoring_1940_18829220

The 106ff I purchased from Proper Auto Care. The only frustrating thing was that I bought a ton of crap from there and they couldn't even offer free shipping....:hairpull

Oh well.... :ignore

Thanks Scott, coming from you that means a bunch.

I will attempt the RMG mix with 106FF. What do you use for your mixing?

What would you suggest in regards to starting with OP and finishing with the 106ff? I was actually surprised at this, perhaps I didn't use an aggressive enough pad with the 106ff, but the OP had the proper cut that I thought I needed....

Scott,

Thank you for the suggestion to mix the Red Moose Glaze and the Menzerna 106ff together.

Might I ask, what do you mix them in and how do you measure the correct proportions? I'm okay mixing a water based solution together (obviously that's easy), however I am curious as to how or what you mix your polish/glaze solutions in? I can't seem to find a viable source to do that in.

Thanks!

I usually mix 106ff/RMG in small 2oz plastic bottles like these.

Just make sure you leave room at the top of the bottle, it will mix better when you shake it up.

have you tracked down the source of that marring? that was pretty nasty for a relatively new car. And whats with Lexus slapping all that plastic on under the hood? how boring.

Now for the good stuff, you did a kick *** detail, the car looks great!

Thanks for the compliments!

The marring was most likely caused by the dealer. I noticed it maybe 2 washes into the "dealer washes" only to ask them to not wash it anymore, and out it comes, washed and dried... :hairpull

The plastic under the hood is the "new" Lexus engine. It sucks, you can't see anything. I'd remove it but with my luck, I'd never get it back on. I asked what was up with it, it's practically on every car now, when I bought my car and Lexus is going for the "clean" look without focus being on the engine....

Makes me wonder if the new IS-F engine is going to have a big plastic engine cover slapped on it...
