I use 3oz of FP60 every full tank. You get 42 full tanks treated (15gal, mine is 13 so it is a bit stronger than recommended) for $26. I bought this after reading about it at the aforementioned bobistheoilguy.com.

That is one of the primary reasons I switched from Techron. 1 gallon of FP60 costs $26.50 and will do 42 treatments at 3oz for a 15 gallon tank. (Dose is 1oz of FP60 per 5 gallons of fuel) For the same 42 treatments Techron will cost you an arm and a leg. I am a long time user of Techron but, have only been using FP60 for a short time so I can't say for certain if it is better. I will know more when I change my plugs in another 2K miles.

I do know that my mileage went up 2mpg since I switched to FP60. I commute 80 miles per day and usually averaged 21mpg while using Techron and I am now averaging 23mpg while using FP60.

For those of you who use Techron, Costco sells it in bulk for a very good price. Sorry I don't remember but when I always see it I say to myself how good a deal it is based on the cost of one at a local auto parts store.

I don't use any additives. I drive a 10 year old Civic that is getting 30 miles to the gallon. I use 89 Octane and change the oil / filter religiously every 3 months.

Maybe I'll try it out. It would be nice to sqeek out an extra couple miles per gallon since I am paying $2.09 a gallon at my local Shell station.

I was looking at the claims for Amoco Ultimate (now with 4 times the legally required detergent level in some markets). They say on an old car you can get "up to 3% improvement", so that's less than 1 mpg for you Spilchy, best case...after using 5 tanks of premium. About the same, I would expect, as one treatment of Techron.

I've read that premium fuel in a car like mine is a total waste of money :nixweiss

I think I'll try the Techron. I'm always picking something up for the family at Costco in which I get reimbursed, so I'll throw a case of Techron on the bill - no one will notice :o :D

Chevron w/ Techron fuel injenction cleaner at Costco @ $9.79 for a 4 pack.

Is that for the 12 or 20 gallon treatment size?

Sorry to keep repeating this but, hopefully someone finds it usefull.

www.lubecontrol.com/fuel.htm

1 gallon of FP60 treats 640 gallons (1oz FP60 per 5 gallons of fuel) of fuel for $26.50

I will be generous and assume you are talking about the 20 gallon treatment for $9.79 for 4 bottles. In order to treat the same 640 gallons it will cost $78.32. I think it is probably more likely though that price is for the 12 gallon treatment in which case it will cost $130.50.

I am not bashing Techron here, it works and I still fill up at Chevron but, FP60 is a much better value and in my case seems to be working better, if a 2mpg average increase counts for anything. FP60 not only cleans but, provides lubrication for the fuel pump, injectors and the rest of the fuel system as well as scavenging water from your fuel.

Don't take my word for it, read for yourself.

If you guys really want to give your injectors a good cleaning, try this (be very careful, please):

1. remove fuel pump fuse/relay

2. run car until it dies

3. pull fuel rail

4. disconect injector and remove from rail or engine

5. hook up 2' length of tubing to injector

6. fill tubing with carb cleaner

7. apply some air pressure (I think I used about 10psi, but it may have been more, not too critical) to the hose

8. hit the injector connector repeatedly with a low DC voltage to open and close the solenoid

9. repeat until you get a nice spray pattern

total time = less than 1 hour

I was given this procedure by a member of a porsche forum (but I think it is pretty generic) I visit and found that 3 of my injectors had really crappy spray patterns at first (kind of a trickle or a single stream), but quickly had 4 injectors that sprayed like new. You can buy seal kits to reseal your injectors (mine included 2 o-rings, a spacer, and a cap and were $2.50 from o'reileys) if they need it. Can't say if I noticed any differences from this since I was doing some other mods at the time. Probably only need to do this if your car is over 10 years old or so.

Used some Valvoline fuel injector cleaner yesterday. There was a leaking bottle of it on the shelf at work, so instead of throwing it away, I just dumped it in the tank. I don't expect any results, but you never know.

Another vote for Fuel Power 60 .... I also use it with cheapest gas I can find. Have been using it for over 1 yr and I am a firm believer in it.

seafoam or Lucas's.

Seafoam has many uses outside the gas tank too. Helped with a clicking sticky lifter problem...

I think I am going to pick up some FP60 for my next test. I have been using the Techron stuff, cause of the name. Shrug, it hasn't made a huge difference.

I just changed my fuel filter today though, hopefully that will be a bit of a help too.

To those who use FP60, do you use it in every tank? Stronger/weaker then they say you should use it?

Lucas Fuel Treatment all the way! Find it at NAPA and Pep Boys auto parts.

A powerful blend of oils and additives that contain no SOLVENTS. Designed to increase power and fuel mileage and also lower exhaust emissions through a more complete combustion.

Lucas Fuel Treatment is formulated for both gasoline and diesel engines, carbureted or fuel injected. It gives your fuel system what it really needs - a blend of super slick oils and additives with a high detergent action that allows the engine to operate at maximum efficiency. Also, it cleans and lubricates the carburetor and injectors and causes the fuel to burn more thoroughly for increased power and less fuel consumption. Lucas Fuel Treatment should definitely be used in vehicles that require leaded fuel because it actually replaces the benefits of lead in gasoline without causing harmful emissions. Use it to pass smog tests. Finally, it totally neutralizes the harmful effects of low sulfur diesel fuel.

Great choice :xyxthumbs While any of the products mentioned in this thread will work well, it is hard to beat the value of FP60. One 3 oz dose which treats 15 gallons of gas costs around 60 cents.

http://www.lubecontrol.com/

Yup, you use it every tank. You will add the recommended dose for however much fuel you add. The recommended dose is 1oz FP60 for 5 gallons of gas. It won't hurt to go stronger but, for regular use I would stick to the recommended dose.

There is a "shock" dosage which some recommend for the first few tank-fulls when you start out using FP60 of 2-3 oz per 5 gallons of gas. After the first few tanks they recommend going back to the 1 oz FP60 per 5 gallons of gas.

Lube Control sells a dispensing bottle but, I have found the bottles at the link below from US Plastics work better for me. I put about 10 oz in the 16 oz bottle and leave it in my trunk so I will have it when I fill-up. With my commute, I fill-up once a week and if I don't keep it in there I tend to forget :o
