FS: New Tin of Meg's 16

Unsolicited opinion (hope you don't take offense)- maybe you're pricing it a bit high even with its increasing scarcity.

I've sometimes thought I might auction off a can or two, perhaps giving the proceeds to a charity, but I always figured it wouldn't bring in enough $ to be worth parting with it.

M-16 was Mequiar's mold release wax, to compete with FK 1000P.

Not a bad product for it's time, but you are way high on the price.

No, 1000P dates to the late 60's. There were formula changes as time went by.

Mequiar's part number never changed, however their formula did in the mid 70's if I recall correctly.

They had to improve it due to Floyd taking away many of their FRP accounts.

Ah, OK, thanks for the latest schooling :D I didn't *think* there could've been FK products from way back then, what with the Mequire's family aspect of the whole thing.

Sorry for the threadjack, OneQuickGT1 :o

Not way high on the price at all.

When it was readily available, it retailed for about $12. Now that it's hard to come by, it'll sell for $25 easy if the can is in good shape and unused. I sell cans for $29.95, plus $5 shipping. Maybe you need to list it over at meguiarsonline or eBay.

Barry, ADS lists the wax as out of stock for well over a year now. It's flat tough to get stock.

Before it ships, I pull the wax out of the can, melt it, and pour it back in. Takes a day extra but at least I know the stuff arrives in good shape.

A pain, but I don't mind doing it for guys that really want a can or two. There have been instances where I've sent a can with the wax in perfectly good shape (even cans I bought directly from Meguiar's warehouse, so I know it was never frozen or got too hot), and the wax went to a pudding-like consistency. So far, melting the wax to a full liquid state and re-pouring it works great. I toss in a bit of extra wax from beater cans just to be sure the quantity is adequate.

It may not be worth it to some guys, but those that enjoyed using it appreciate that it's still available.

Others want a can so they can try it out, or simply for nostalgia sake. At $15 its a killer deal.

Gee, I sure wouldn't have thunk that! Shows how much I know about the market value of M16, huh? :o

Ah, most people don't keep track of this stuff.

If a guy e-mails me inquiring as to whether I actually have the wax, I let them know I'm selling at a premium, and that they should check eBay or MeguiarsOnline first. I don't want to be known as a price gouging, wax hoarding loser, after all. Besides, when I find more cans of wax, it's usually not at a deal.
