Fresh from Mid-Michigan

Figured I'd make my intro thread since I am lurking so much.



My wife has got a black Cobalt and I've got a 98 Civic (red), an 89 Chevy C1500 (the shop truck that needs love), and an 84 Mustang (silver and black).... I'm pretty anal about trying to keep my cars clean and now that I own my first house (been here a year now) I am building a bigger collection of detailing goodies. My collection of tools is good since I work in the repair industry but I am still stocking up on cleaning/detailing/polishing. Trying to teach myself how to polish with an orbital but trying not to burn through the paint, lol.



Anyways, before I continue ranting I'll just get to the pictures of my two cars.

Here's the 84 Mustang. Just a mild built 306 cubic inch motor with a tremec 5spd. Runs good. Currently on jack stands in the garage for winter slumber and some more upgrades. :usa:





Here's the shot of my beater with it's old winter wheels, after my first attempt at polishing it with a wheel....

I was happy with it, but I had a ***** of a time getting swirl marks out. The car has 260,000 miles on it, so I wasn't expecting the paint to be that lively, but I was impressed with myself. I still have lots to learn though.









Anyways, I'll be here, lurking, reading, asking questions.

hahaha - I like to specify. Habbit from managing a shop in the collision industry because there, for us, is a difference between a hand rub/hand polish and a machine (or wheel) polish....

Which are fitted with buffing/polishing pads (not wheels).

Cool stuff. I had my old 86 Mustang in msu homecoming parade followed by my trans am a couple years later. It was then used by party because his massive head fit out the t top roof. Lol. We will have to meet up some time.



I do estimating for a local dealership bodyshop. Was managing it peeled say but never had it officially while we were missing one. Never really wanted it. Too many politics involved in dealership managers. Lol

Ah, Terry's place. Been there many times, never in the body shop though. In fact the PDR guy I've used works out of the used car barn (or used to, haven't talked to him in a while).



I had a Trailblazer SS for a while, now all I've got is my GMC truck; one of the first, if not the first "All Terrain" package Sierra in town back in '08 when they first came out. Don't really have as much need for my own toys when people pay me to play with theirs :chuckle:

Yep, that's him! You're absolutely right, he's extremely good and takes great pride in his work. Prices are very reasonable as well.



I'll have to stop in to the body shop next time I'm out in GL and say hello.

Thx all. I just got done doing the best upgrade possible for all my cars finishes ----



Took down the massive white pine that overshadowed my driveway and did nothing but cover anything that sat in the driveway with sap! lol. Best detailing upgrade I think I'll ever do for my daily driver that has to sit out there!
