Fresh Cab Rodent Repellent

;2094216`]Rats and other rodents are repelled by the scent of pine and cedar due to their toxicity -- they will instinctively avoid the area. Besides pine or cedar wood shavings / chips, you can also use Pine-Sol. Simply fill plastic bottle caps from soda or water bottles with a little bit of Pine-Sol and leave them near likely routes of entry into your garage or home, and refill periodically.

Did not know this. Just have to build the garage with cedar exterior siding and cedar car siding inside.

So you are saying those pine/Christmas tree air fresheners aren`t just for the MJ crowd:)

[INSERT my usual bleeding-heart rant against stuff like Glue Traps. [Freakin`] inhumane thing to do to any sentient creature. IF you`re gonna kill something, *ANYTHING*, do it quickly and cleanly or may Karma bite your [rearend]. So there. Yeah yeah, I know...there`s nothing worse than a reformed anything, huh?]

MikeLambert & path1976- Thanks for the info on the efficacy of those repellent pouches. Living in a woods the whole Rodent Infestation thing is an ongoing challenge for us (I keep track of the mice we live-trap/relocate from inside the hous, currently at 98. not a typo.). Every now and then it causes some kind of incredibly expensive damage and anything humane that works will be welcome.

I put a little bit of pine sol in three cups and placed them on in the areas I thought the rodents had either been entering from or coming out of

this is the first morning in a week where I didn`t` find footprints on my car

I am going to go to lowes to see if they have the stuff from the OP so I can buy it. I don`t necessarily want to kill the visitors I just want them to take a friggin` hike!

update:

it just darted across my garage when I was pulling my car in

tomorrow after work im putting on rubber gloves and pulling out all the crap its probably hiding in and either throwing that stuff away or putting it outside until i throw it away

i cant take this anymore

its scratching my car!

it drug a shoddy micro INTO my engine bay, no joke

i damn sure didnt leave it there

have since taped the ends down

all bets for humane ending are over
sorry, I`d kill it with my bare hands if i could

being a trashman I have zero love for rodents and dumpster diving animals, mice rats chipmunks squirrels raccoons they can all take a dirt nap and I wont loose sleep.

Honestly, you need to get rid of that thing any way you can. Once it starts chewing on your vehicle wiring things start costing a lot of money.

512Detail- Yikes, wonder what it is at that size!

The Tomcat stuff oughta get it, the electronic gizmo probably won`t do anything.

If you decide to shoot it I`d sure use a long gun rather than a handgun, especially in the garage where an "oops!" could have consequences.

davidc- Yes indeed, a little gnawing on the A8 once cost me quite a few thousands, and I don`t mean just "several".

Forget shooting it. Aside from the legal issues if you wind up using a firearm, you would need to see it long enough to take aim and get a well-placed shot off, and there better not be anything or anyone in the background. Shooting at the thing sitting on a concrete floor? The bullet will ricochet.

If you are going to shoot it, use a .177 or .22 pellet gun. That`s enough to dispatch pests and doesn`t present as big a problem as the aforementioned solution.

I have zero intentions on using a firearm- lol..that`s not a very wise decision and I don`t want to be greeted by the Kyle`s finest afterwards either.

The sonic wave thing, POS, the rat was sniffing it when I walked into the garage last night.

I`m gonna stop at home depot and see if I can find the fresh cab stuff there but I put a similar product (two packages worth- so 8 small bags) throughout the garage and I just don`t know that it works.

I think I`m gonna have to trap it... I put some flour on the garage floor in areas to see if I can figure out where it`s roaming around at most of the time and then I"ll set some big traps there.

just got home and noticed it ate almost half of one of the bait blocks while i was at work

i hope it dies

keeping car outside tonight in case it seeks garage revenge or something

moved some of the boxes around and it didn`t pop out or come running so who knows

Not the biggest fan of poison, hate the idea of it dying in a wall or somewhere I cant find it and rotting away stinking. I like kill traps so I can dispose of the carcass.
