Becareful with that idea Scott as that figure belongs to the makers of South Park and you can find yourself in a lawsuit and unable to distribute those hat.

I'm pretty sure it's modified enough to count as parody/whatnot. Altough it's in the style of a South Park character, it does not directly refereance any of them. Kind of like Ronald Duck and Findependance Day :).

You'd be surprised how trivial some of the lawsuits can be. I'd hate to see Scott invest some money in some merchandise and not be able to use it. Some battles aren't worth fighting and I'm sure the creators of South Park have deeper pockets to fight with also. It was just a heads up warning to him if he hadn't thought about it. :)

I used the Southpark character generator on Comedy Central's website and saw nothing that said I wouldn't 'own' my character. In addition, there is another site completely unconnected to Comedy Central that has a Southpark character generator and no one is shutting them down.

And if you're going to give away hats as promotions, try this. Put them in your shop with a price sign in front of them (say $15). When you want to give one to someone, go over, pull one off the shelf and hand it to them. It automatically establishes a value of $15.00 to the gift, whereas just pulling one out of a box does not.[/QUOTE]

This, is a really good tip :xyxthumbs

As an FYI- The current trend in hats is an unstructured, low to mid-profile, sandwich visor with a velcro closure. With any type of clothing, you want to mimic retail as closely as possible-retail sets the trends. We're doing a lot of side and back embroidery, as well as some special touches done offshore such as visor embroidery.

Right now, you should be able to buy the hat described above for about $4.75 @ 144 qty. with up to 10,000 stitches.

I like this idea Gary. I need hats anyway for myself for working, promoting, etc. I had one sample made up back when I first started. It was navy blue with white lettering and an adjustable band.
