Hey guys, wondered about Wilkinson and Poundland Microfibres, so i went down to town today, to buy a couple and review them.

They were 99p from Wilkinson, and duh a pound from pound land.

I will review them briefly against the Meguiars Ultimate Wipe i have as well.

here are the microfibres together

The poundland one is the one with the peugeot 206 on the box.

Well only the wilkinson ones said the material qualities, whcih is 80%polyester and 20% nylon...i dunno if this is a bad thing.

Here are the individual reviews.

This is the one from PoundLand, seems nice quality, was very soft and plush..feels thicker than the meguiars one...did the cd test and it didn't scratch it, no matter how hard i rubbed it and in what direction.... seems ok :up

This is one of the ones i bought from Wilkinsons, and first thing i noticed was that quite alot of ''lint'' and fibers came out of the packet, and got all over my black t shirt hehe, not good, well it passed the cd test as well, and felt similar quality to the poundland one.

this is another one i got from wilkinsons, and besides a bit of lint fallin out of the pack i noticed it felt quite roughish, kinda like it had startch in it, i did the cd test, and well it scratched VERY lightly, to my surprise, wouldn't use on the body, keep it for the wheels.

Meguiars microfibre, beautiful and really good, two thumbs up :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs

thats the end of my ''review'' not the most detailed one, but i reckon these cloths are ''ok'' and not too bad to use on a car...except the red one that scratched the cd slightly... i am still weary about usin on my car, would rather spend the extra and use the meguiars ones, and use these for the glass and wheels...

You might want to wash them a couple of times in a liquid dtergent before you use them, might help with the loose fibres (lint) thing. Good report on available MF towels

Experience unshared; is knowledge wasted…/

That's great info.

I reckon that we brits need good MF's more than almost anything as it looks like we're without any of the higher quality towels (Pakshak, AG, DF etc.) that our American friends can get hold of.

Alex Creasey is looking into, I think with Vindaloo, and I've done a bit of hunting on Google etc and asked a few UK co's for samples (hey, ya don't ask, ya don't get, right..?) to see how they compare.

Still had no PM's about a group buy yet!

the towels are in the as i speak hehe...only thing is i didn't use any soap or anythin, thought water would be ok

I always wash my MF's, foam pads, terry towels & Megs WW @ 90 degrees then rinse at least twice to get all product trace out and also when new as I always assume that they could be full of dirt etc anyway.

I then air dry them and store in a sealed plastic box

I've had a reply from http://www.properautocare.com/ and they've said order would need to be min $200 plus shipping. They've got some very good products incl. MF's but I can't say how good they are as I've no experience with them.

Any UK users able to comment?

erm i'd order maybe $10 if u got a group buy goin on...$20 max...

i hope u wash yo pads and towels seperately, apparently wax will get into all your cloths and never be the same...

Sorry Luke!

Should have mentioned that I pre soak all cloths etc. Hadn't realised though that product could transfer in the wash (I always wash cloths used on tyres, greasy stuff and the really dirty towels separately).

Keep the feedback on MF's coming - I suspect Alex will eventually sort something out on this so maybe I'll simply stick with what I've got and maybe try the Wilko's MF's meantime.

AHHHHH DAMMIT,.. i am such a spaz...i washed my new microfibres and the colour from the red crap microfibre ran and made my Meguiars Ultimate wipe PINK! :( its just a change in colour and nothin else i hope

I am in preliminary consultation with Alex & AG Group to discuss the UK supply of quality MF products, so watch this space.

I have Pakshak, AG & DF towels. The AG Ultra & Pakshak are very similar with really soft plush pile that definitely does not scratch clearcoats or solid paints. They wash beautifully on a 60 deg wash using liquid detergent only. I find that you don't really need a hotter wash as you tend to use these hi-quality cloths for the slightly cleaner jobs.

The DF towels are super plush & soft and are totally different to the look & touch of the other 2. Feels like 5 star hotel dressing gown fabric. I find these are a little too slippy for polishing-up after waxing etc. but they are superb for application of a QD & the final buff before you stand back & admire!

Poundstretcher, JML & other 99p towels are great for door jambs, wheels etc but after experiencing the other 3, I defintely would not use on the main bodywork.

I have scoured UK websites and shops for months & havnen't seen anything in the same class as the 3 mentioned above, but hopefully we'll have one of these coming into the UK soon.

You should be OK Luke - I've had colour run into my Megs UW without any visible loss of performance.

It's a bloke/washing machine lack of interactivity thing....

That's good news Jim.

Think I'll go ahead and order from Ranney for now - sounds like I really don't need zillions of Pakshak MF's as I'd only plan on using them for removal of polish, wax etc and keep all my others for doorshuts and the like.

Even so, still sounds like they're exceptionally good value and good quality - certainly better than what's available in the UK!

Keep us all posted!

sweet, if u become the importing distributor for pakshak u could sell to seriousperformance.co.uk extremecarcare.co.uk and to us guys, there is a market for it

and as for the Megs UW...well i have to look manly an dmore macho when usin my pink wipe hehehe.

what does DF stand for? THE ACRONYMS needs to be updated!

OK, so I'm going to get me some decent MF's BUT I want to do car this weekend (if weather improves...) and I only have a single Megs UW so I'm wondering if any UK Autopians have a coupla good MF's they'd be interested in either selling or trading?

Had a quick look in the goody box last night and found I have a big bottle of 3M Finesse It III hand glaze. I used a single drop on girlfriend's Ka but then it rained and I never got around to using any more so pretty much unused.

Anyone interested in either a trade or sale? PM me if you can help as any Autopians knoww it's really hard to sit and not play with the car if it's dry weather!

Thanks in advance.
