just want to see how far this goes, always wanted to see what others thought, my vote goes to Foose. i know that there might be better out there but being that they are on tv wee ALL see their work.

Foose by FAR!!! Bayd's tv show ruined my image of him. The bums he has/had working for him (Bluebear) just made me feel like he was a hack. Boyd is deff one of the fathers of the modern street rod but Foose has a certain finesse and aspect of quality to his work. And I think it speaks wonders that Charlie and Mike left Boyd to work for Foose. Boyd seems to have gone into the mass-produced glass body cars that can only be built so many different ways. Foose has more imagination, heart and sense of pride in his cars! :2thumbs:

I have been a fan of Foose since I saw one of his cars win the Riddler Award at the Detroit Autorama back before I could even drive.

Foose all the way. I am not a big fan of changing the appearance of a classic car, but nine times out of ten, the cars on Overhaulin look better than the orignal when it was new. He just has a way about really bringing out the best in a car.

Yeah, Foose is truly a designer and knows how to design cars that are not over kill. Like his T-bird. You look at it and know it looks better than stock but the changes are not gaudy.

I actually prefer Barry White from Wreches to Riches, the cars he builds really back up their fast look. But between Foose and Boyd not sure as Boyd build more hot rods which I like (30's-50's for the most part) and Foose does more muscle cars but don't always like his rims of choice (but I like their paint designs better). What I really hate and would love to knock out is that Dwayne guy (from Boyds) who just puts down people and really need a good @$$ kicking.

ahh yes berry white. love the modern conversions on his muscle cars, forgot about him, lets add him too, although most of his work is bolt on work (catalog parts), they are still top of the line.

anyone have any thought on how much it would cost to buy one of those Overhaulin vehicles?

Foose by far! Seems as though BOYD just wants to rush cars in and out. Half the time they settle on doing things that appear to be half-arsed. I really like the older guy with the huge mustache that excells in chassis design and fabrication. He is an old school guy but seems that he likes everything done the right way, not the way that saves the most amount of time.

Yeah Dwayne needs a beat down or be able to get his hands dirty! Boyd doesn't do much but bark orders. At least Foose is involved from conception to the end! I also admire a guy that wants to get his hands dirty. In addition, Foose just seems like an all-around nice guy (Of course, that could be what the producers want us to see).

Style wise, Boyd does the same ish over and over again and rarely goes beyond borders where as I feel Foose always tries to do something different.

speaking of nice guy did any of you see the episode where foose himself got overhauled? yea i think he is truley a nice guy.

Different styles and definitely different attitudes !!!! While Boyd's people struggle to meet a deadline fighting the negative forces and themselves as well., Foose team finesse their way to complete a kickass product in a shorter period, that's teamwork. So at the end by FAAAAAARRRRRR, Foose's the man.....

Here's another vote for Foose. I agree with what was said above. I think MANY people were not impressed by the people and the shop as viewed in that show. Foose amazes me with the way he can whip out those drawings on Overhaulin'. I wish I could draw like that.

Foose , by far. He may have worked for Boyd and learned from him but Foose went onto perfect what car building is suppose to be. He has pure talent and he is hands on with most if not all of his projects. I've seen a Boyd car up close and personal and it lacked the panache of a true custom car. It looked like a kit car very plan and ho hum. Where the Foose cars are not flashy but they stand out.

I see Chip Foose as an artist. I think his automotive "taste" is spot-on. He seems to have an incredible eye for the details, which is what totally MAKES his cars special.

Don't want to say anything bad about Boyd... he seems to concentrate more on hot rods- which really isn't my thing. I do feel that all the drama from "American Hotrods" didn't really do him any favors... especially when he blew up about Charlie Hutton going over to Foose Design to paint a car for the Riddler. Charlie was still pretty devoted to Boyd. Had Boyd handled it better, Charlie would still probably be there. The rumor mill has it that when Chip left Boyd's, there were a LOT of hard feelings. Don't know what the backstory is on that one... kindof a shame.

Were I to work for one of them, would definitely pick Chip. Maybe it's just the way the two shows are edited, but Overhaulin' has a much more positive vibe, whereas American Hotrod tends to be so negative... too much arguing & backstabbing. Both "teams" work long, hard hours... but it seems like Chip tries to make it fun for his guys, & that makes ALL the difference.

Anyhow, my 2 cents worth...

I like Foose, my wife and watch overhauling. Both amazed at his artist drawlings. I loved it when he cut a perfect circle in the hood----freehand!!! I watch Boyd to see all of the turmoil and hope he misses a deadline. Charlie took Beetle Bailey and the young kid to Chips too.

Chip Foose is a car design god! His sharp eye for the details and incredible sense of style make him one in a million. Nobody can touch his designs. Now that he has Mike and Charlie working for him, things can only get better. Those two guys were not utilized to their full potential at Boyd's. Charlie Hutton is one of the greatest painters I've seen. If you can lay down paint good enough to impress the Riddler judges, it just doesn't get much better than that! Foose for the win! I have long been a huge fan of him and his work. Oh to have a Foose car someday.

good painters? hum, lanzini, you know the guy who does flames. wow thats some pretty good air brushing. just last week or so they did an hour long show on him and another girl in a paint off, that dude is incredible.

From what I understand, the hard feelings between Chip and Boyd are because when Boyd owned Boyd Coddington's Hot Rods or Hots Rods by Body Coddington, he ran into some health issues. His company was owned (technically by a board of directors, remember all the toys cars you could by at the time) by an outside group, which didn't get along with Boyd, who voted to have Boyd removed and they placed Chip in charge. This didn't sit well with Boyd, so he disvolved the partnership and considered Chip a backstabber. It appears that Chip was only doing what was asked of him.

Boyd refounded a new company named Hot Rods by Boyd (minus the last name) and Chip went on to found Foose Design. Boyd has always held a grudge against Chip, and since nobody knows to true details, nobody knows who was right.

I could see it both ways, but Boyd should have never trusted his company to a board of directors.

I've never seen a "Cod Rod" up close but I did have the pleasure a viewing several cars from Chip's collection at the Petersen Automotive Museum and they are simply stunning!

A poster above mentioned the changes to the T-Bird that he did. That car looked even worse in person than it did on the show. It looks like a waste of money and the wheels did it absolutely NO justice.
