Foamaster - Quick Questions

Hey gang, long time no post. I've ordered a Foamaster gun (sorry, don't already own a pressure washer for the better option), and needed some input on my soap. I've already got gobs of Z7 around, and have read it works pretty well with the gun for producing foam. Two questions:

1) What mixture ratio/dial setting do you recommend, or is it trial-and-error? This is for one vehicle, weekly washing. I want good suds, but don't want shampoo costs to be part of my monthly budget.

2) I'm interested in mixing a little ONR with the Z7 for the gun. Any thoughts on this? If it's a good idea, any recommendations on the amount to add? (see #1).

As always, thanks. :2thumbs:

eleven11- I mix up a gallon of shampoo and fill the foamgun from that. I use maybe ~5-6 ounces and the rest water (I've done OK with a weaker mix as well). I then adjust the strength at the gun, but I usually use the weakest setting.

But that's for *my* foamgun wash technique, dunno how it'll work if you wash a different way :nixweiss

Never tried adding ONR...when we discussed this before the concensus seemed to run *against* doing that.

For a soap that suggests 1oz per gallon on the label, mix the tank 3 parts water to one part soap. Then set the slider to the third hole from the left (4:1) which will give you 1oz per gallon at the tip.

Don't add ONR to the mix. There is no benefit and it will kill your foam. ONR is a completely different wash method and is only a mild water softener that will have adverse effects on you goal of high foam.
