Foam pads for pre wax cleaner use?

I have never used the PC before to apply pre wax (non abrasive) cleaners to a vehicle before, in the past I have done it by hand application. I am going to be using stuff like the Four Star Pre wax, the Poorboys non abrasive cleaner, etc on darker GM vehicles. I don't want to end up using a pad that's too agressive and will cause pad marring, or one thats too soft and just soaks the product up and does nothing. Using the LC flat and CCS style pads, which color pads should I end up using? I need to get some new pads and just wanted to see if I need to get a different color for use

I like using red pads for sealant, but was unsure if they are too soft and absorbant. I have never used the blue and grey pads before, but are they much more firmer than the red pads? Do they have any cutting to them?

I am not sure if there's a difference between the black or grey LC pads, but I have black and red and they both feel the same stiffness to me. Just went down to the garage and checked.

I use the Griot's orange polishing pads for this. Not too aggressive for reasonably hard clear (absolutely OK on my GMs, even OK on softer clear on Ford/Mazda/Subaru, at least IME), nice open/porous type of foam that's a little firm. I simply love this pad for jobs with AIOs and paint cleaners. They wear like iron too.
