Foam guns are waaaaay too much fun!

SuperBee,

Could you give more info on your awesome pressure washer? It is a John Deere from Lowe's. Is that right?

Do you know the model number? I would love to have one of those babies...At what pressure do you use it to wash the car. I am scared about hurting the car paint, trim, etc, with all that pressure available.

Thanks for the video.

SuperBee,

That setup you got is pretty sweet. I know you did a lot of research into this, so would you happen to know if there's a similar foamer attachment to what you have, except one that works with or includes an adapter to fit the Karcher-style push and twist connection system?

Codiddy and fjc, here's the unit I bought: 3000 PSI 2.8 GPM Gas Pressure Washer

I apply the foam with the unit at max pressure. I turn it down quite a ways when I use the rinsing tip, though. No use in peeling the decals off my car. : P

And fjc, thanks for the info on the CG order time. Mine was still "Processing" this morning. : /

I did look at the Karcher foam attachment, and it appears to be very cheaply made (like most things Karcher), and I also was able to find a few youtube videos of it. It doesn't make foam like mine does, but it is a lot cheaper. Unfortunately, you would have to find a threaded female to quick-twist type adapter to use my unit with a Karcher quick-twist style pressure gun. Autobrite in the UK does make them, but holy cow, I bet the shipping would be huge. I think those people with Karcher style quick twist guns should probably wait to see how Justin's model comes out instead of purchasing one like mine and trying to find an adapter for it. I think that Karcher does make the kind of adapter you'd need, but I'd sure opt for an all-brass solution (like what Justin is talking about).

Oh, and fjc... if the price of the John Deere washer scares you (darn near put me on the floor... took me weeks to get the courage up to actually buy the thing), Lowes carries some other gas powered washers that are darn near as good as the JD, but for alot less money. They carry one that still has the Honda engine, but uses an axial flow pump instead of the triplex piston type pump JD uses. All the other components appear to be exactly the same as the JD unit. The price is about 400 bucks less, if I remember right.

I've been spending about 30 bucks a week at the local touchless car wash. That's how I'm justifying spending this much coin on a washing setup. My dual filter water softener setup should be here in two days. : )

Thanks for the interest, everyone! I'll update this thread with more videos as I get more soap. If anyone would like to see any particular soap used, let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Yeah, my wife gives me grief about this all the time... "Honey, I'm planning on buying you a new tooth brush next month, so you might want to start your toothbrush research now, OK"?

The only two solutions I know of for the Karcher style push and twist connections are the Karcher made attachment and the attachment adapter that Autobrite in the UK makes. I do believe that Karcher makes some sort of adapter, but I think we should all wait and see Justin's gun first. : ) Had I known that Justin had something in the works, I would have waited to buy this. I'd much rather support a fellow autopian than some nameless internet pressure washer store.

I'm actually going to start selling one similar to this one but it's all brass.......only the end is plastic and it's adjustable. You can even do your siding with it!

I will be selling them with the trigger gun and quick disconnects for 99.95 shipped.

What's the difference in that and selling items in the trading post? I'm not trying to start any trouble, just wondering?

I think I have the rules posted pretty clearly. There is NO commercialism in the main forum areas. The shilling, spamming and misuse of the system is not only unwanted by most members, but it's also not fair to the people who support the community financially.

Any "sellers" who wish to advertise, can do so by creating an account on http://autopia.org/sponsors. It's open to anyone who wants to use it.

The Trading Post is for members who have an item they'd like to sell or trade and for SPONSORS to post specials. It's not for SELLERS who do not support the community.

Thanks!

Yeah, I can't wait to see how much more foam I get with the softening system hooked up. The water where I'm at is very, very hard. Like among the hardest in the U.S.

I'll see what I can do about getting some DP Extreme. :chuckle:

I was skeptical about the DP extreme at first, but after trying it out i was impressed at how sudsy it is, plus i love the nice minty scent.

[quote name='SuperBee364']Yup, this one has to be used with a pressure washer, and it has to have a threaded coupler to join to the high pressure gun; the Karcher quick-twist type connector won't work. The one I linked to is very similar to the one that is so popular in the UK. Autobrite (UK detail supply company) makes one with various adapters for different pressure washers, and I'm quite certain it is the same model as I linked to.

I have a karcher, but don't understand why the foam gun wont work with it????? I have a full sized Karcher from costco not the electric one.

Greg, if you have a gas-powered karcher, it should work... Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were talking about the electric karchers from costco.

Any power washer with the insert, push and twist type connectors will not work.

Any power washer with the standard threaded attachments will work.

Sorry for the misunderstanding! You're gonna love it...
