Foam gun vs foam cannon

I have the foam gun and like it. I can't imagine washing w/o it. I've had it since 2005.

I see the big thing now is the foam cannon. I don't NEED the foam cannon but it looks really cool and I'm a tool addict.

From what I can tell, it performs the same function as the foam gun, eg presoak to loosen up the dirty stuff and pre-rinse. The advantages over the foam gun (from what I can see) are:

  1. Uses less water to create foam
  2. Less soap required (most solutions call for 1 to 2oz with 30oz's of water)
  3. thicker foam clings to car longer

Does anyone have both gun and cannon? Are my assumptions above correct?

Anyone prefer the foam gun over the cannon? If so, why?

How is the pressure out of the foam cannon when not siphoning/foaming soap? I don't like the idea of rinsing with a straight pressure washer lance. If the cannon has relatively good pressure w/o soap, that would be a nice timesaver, eg no need to disconnect house from pressure washer to rinse.

Anything else to consider?

im in the same boat as you. You do need a pressure washer for a foam cannon of course but everything else you listed is correct.

Less Soap

Less Water

More Suds

i would like one in the future but they are not cheap.

i have both and find myself using the foam gun more often. i can pre-soak and use it while washing...

I have the pressure washer already. If you google foam cannon, there is a noname brand (probably the original brand just like the foam gun is a gilmour) for $69. Not bad...it's from a pressure washer parts website.

at the price of $65 i would wait until someone like Autogeek has a sale 15%-20%. The Autogeek foam cannon is $99

i would pay that extra $20 and know that if you have any problems with it at all Autogeek will stand behind their product and def. make it right. Not sure on ordering from places like that pressure washer parts store as customer service may not be up to par and only to save $20.

That's just my $.02

I don't use my pressure washer a lot but you guys got me thinking about investing in a new one along with a foam cannon LoL.

Thanks Emaxxman :woot:

im ordering mine from pwmall.com with a new pistol grip gun, quick connect adapters for every connection on the powerwasher, and a new twist+push n pull mini lance thats only a few inches long and twist adjusts from 0-80 degrees and also pushes n pulls from higher to lower pressure. all for a 120 bucks. the cannon itself is less than 60 but all those extra accessories im ordering make life SOOO much easier and are well worth it. using the stock yardlong lance with the foam cannon at the end of that is ridiculous. also i can quick disconnect the cannon and the new adjustable nozzle in seconds.

after many months of research this is the best option for me. ive found a couple cannons under 50 bucks but those sites dont have as many accessories like various sizes of quick connects. ordering from one site is easier.

i agree with vtec92civic about ordering from autogeek though, as long as u buy with a discount code or are already planning on picking up some BOGO's or something from then..otherwise order elsewhere. im just in a rush to buy and shipping to hawaii from autogeek is expensive anyway so might as well order elsewhere. also i dont want to have their company logo on the bottle :)

Hahaha Jay. I swear you are following me. What's wrong with their logo? You always seem to go the more difficult route with things. I'm guessing you like the challenge.

:bat i am following you lol. for starters u seem to post in the same threads i tend to click on. also sometimes i click on the thread if i see that you or rsurfer or someone local posts too. :ignore

idk id rather just have it blank. if i want it to have a design ill just put a sticker on it or something. plus its not a really 'nice' or 'artistic' design. im not hating on autogeek i just dont have raving reviews for them like most autopians. they still actually havent even replied to my last email still. but anyway yea its like 40 bucks cheaper where im gettin it. plus it has a 64oz tank. :idea

PM Meghan over at Autogeek, and if you can find the exact same thing as their gun for cheaper (same parts, etc), then they'll price match it. I did that with my foam gun, after I found the Gilmour on Amazon for like 20 bucks less than AG's price. So got them to price match as the shipping was cheaper from AG than from the Amazon vendor.

I have both the foam gun and foam cannon. They both work well, but have an obvious difference in useage for me. I mainly use the foam cannon, which I love. My primary use for the foam gun is when detailing a convertible, where you don't want to use the high pressure around the rag top and it's seals.

Does anyone know the name of the original maker of the foam cannon? I am more than happy to buy it from autogeek (great support from them over the years) if they can price match it.

I purchased mine from Autogeek and love it. Even if it costs a little more, I feel better buying from someone who has great customer service like Autogeek in the event of any issues.

Street I think you got the point there..... You can order from amazon with absolutly no customer service..... Or you can support a vendor in the industry that you are going to use it for not to mention if you have problem I willing to bet that autogeek will actually answer the phone and know how to help with your application and not washing off siding from your house. To me it's worth the twenty dollars plus most of the foam guns I see there come with a free gift (as long as it not a target microfiber) I would pair that with cheaper shipping and your autopia discount code and go with it.... Support those who support you!!

Guys - I appreciate your support for autogeek. I really do. I myself purchased my foam gun and several hundred dollars worth of stuff from autogeek. In fact, they are the only place that I have ever ordered from.

However, I always make sure to shop around and understand what each vendor has to offer. That doesn't mean I won't end up buying from autogeek.

I agree with you when you say it pays to shop around...however, the point I was trying to make is this- If it is a matter of +/- $10.00 for this particular product, I would just go with a reputable outfit. If it is a matter of +/- $30-$40, then you need to weigh your options. I always shop around, but am very careful who I buy from, since I was burned once by choosing a slightly lesser price from an "unknown" company vs. a reputable one.
