whats the best shampoo for foam gun and will make a very very thick foam, can gold class have the same result as DP?? its alot cheaper

i've used GC and it isn't a very good soap to use in the foam gun, but is an excellent bucket perfomer. if you want a great OTC soap for the foam gun, pick up some EO1 car wash...

p.s. check your local kragen, i picked up 5 of these on closeout for $1.33 each...

hello!

I think first off, what type of foam gun do you have? IF you only have the Glimour type which goes on a normal hose then at best, even using the British style shampoo free foam for softening dirt then you will only get a frothy style mix.

Remeber that both the DP stuff and then Gold Class both have shampoo in and so on your LSP that like giving it two washes, whether that matters or not im sure everyone will have there own opinions.

If your looking for clingy style "shaving foam" that is thick and stays like that on the car for 5+ mins and has little or no effect on the LSP then you really need a power washer with a special foam product. They do not seem to have made it over here to the USA (as far as i know).

I have to say the DP stuff does the foam and dwell really well IMO better then convential shampoos.

PM Jose (advs1) if you want a foam cannon, he is selling them right now.

For soap, DP and GC work the same with my experience. Theres only a maximum amount of soap you can blast out of the Gilmore and I've maxed it out ages ago. Hyperwash, GC, DP, they're all the same to me with my dilutions...

I've tried probably 6 different soaps in my Gilmour and honestly I can never tell a discernible difference. I would bet it would play more of a role in a foam CANNON, but a foam gun...not so much (IME).

I just use whatever is close, but I have tried: Gold Class, NXT, Super Soap, Hyper Wash, Shampoo Plus, etc and they all seemed about the same.

To just answer your question, yes, the DP Xtreme will foam better than Gold Class. Of course the recommended amount of DP, 2 ounces per 6-8 ounces of water, should create a lot of foam.

Even the cheapest shampoo I have, some Zymol I picked up at Big Lots, creates decent foam when mixed right. Personally I like my normal shampoo, Poorboy's S,S & S, in the foam gun as well as for a bucket wash. I recently saw the DG shampoo perform well and Accumulator likes the Griot's for his car washing and foam gun. I recently bought some Griot's car wash so we'll see if I like it well enough come spring to make a switch.

If I'm cleaning a car I don't want to use a dry, clingy, shaving creme, type of foam you see in some videos. For a pre-soak I want foam, but I want it to be wet so it helps penetrate and loosen road grime. I want to see it slowly drain off the car taking some of the grime with it, and what's left should be easier to remove because it has been pre-soaked with foam (car wash and water).

My foam gun mix ratios are far from exact, but I usually don't need more than an ounce mixed with the water in the (large) 1/2 gallon container on my Gilmour. Unless I'm pre-soaking a beater with some cheap shampoo because I'll be polishing anyway, I want my foam gun mix to have the same traits I look for in a bucket wash; gentle, clean rinsing, and most-of-all a lot of lubricity.

Sorry you don't seem to be getting straight answers so to speak but this is prob because there are diff factors to consider when using a foam gun. In my experience I have used both the DP Foam Shampoo and Gold Class. In my opinion the Gold Class did not foam quite as well as the DP but in all honesty the DP didn't blow me away either. I would go with the cheaper product. Alot has to do with your water pressure also. My pressure is not that great hence my Foam is moderate at best. So to answer your question if you are using a hose (Not a power washer) do not expect that shaving cream consistency from your foam gun no matter what type of soap you put in it. Like others have said it makes a good rinse to loosen up the debris and give you some lubricant as you wash. That's about it, do not expect miracles or tons of foam.
