Foam Gun-1st Impressions

Rabbi,

I too was a little underwhelmed when I first used the foam gun. I had read all of the positive comments on it and truly expected to be able to move heaven and earth. I figured I had already spent the money and I wasn't hurting anything by using it so I just kept playing around with shampoo's and the mix ratio's. Having used it for a couple of years now It's just part of the routine and I really like using it.

Yes I use it as a part of the wash not the end all of end alls... it's a useful tool as a pre-wash for me, but has not replaced the wash bucket, mitts, grit guard, and rinse bucket :rockon

I put 2 ounces of superslick in the bottle then filled the bottle up to where it began to cone shape. After 3 car washes I still have about a 1/3 of the mixture left.:passout:

I use mine straight and then let the gun do the diluting:passout:

Poorboy are you satisfied with that process or are you still experimenting?:passout:

I don't worry about a few ounces of extra shampoo :hmmm: all I have to remember is how many quarters I used to throw into the self serve washes to get the same foam;)

I just bought a new foam gun.
I received it last Thursday but have not used it yet.

I think I will try your method because I agree with the fact that if you had to mix it in the jar their would be no need for the adjustable mixing valve.

I resisted buying one of these because I view them as something that I really do not need.

The two bucket wash has served me well but when AG had it on sale at 20% off and then sent me a E-Mail with a 20% off code I went for the 40% discount and bought one.

Maybe after I have used it I will change my mind but as of now I think it is something that we all could live without.

I got one about a year ago...I used it on my car about 2 times and found that I could do just as good a job with the bucket and faster as I didn't have to set up the gun....I have found other uses for it....I have used it on RVs the house for windows, sprayed some pesticide, fertilized the lawn...because of the adjustable thing you can do lots with it...as for just cars I find it cumbersome to use

How do you use it?

For example, I hold my foam gun in my left hand and have the wash mitt on my right hand. I do not use the flooding while wiping but more like a pre-soak on the car and the mitt plus the rinse bucket.

I hook it up and spray the car down then use the bucket with soapy water to wipe the car then discount the bottle thing and rinse the car...I don't like the sprayer part either....you can get a quick disconnect for it and use your regular sprayer but that seem like to much work for me...if I was doing more than one car at a time then this would be idea

Don't tell me that(as for just cars I find it cumbersome to use) I am awaiting mine in the mail and couldn't be more anxious.

Its a personal thing I think there are plenty here that love them...got one for my BNL last year and he loves it...its not something that I find makes the job faster, or easier....on large jobs yes its a time saver there but I"m talking about big SUV's and 4x4's motor homes and the likes of that

I agree with you Beemer.I can wash the car faster without the gun but if I have the time out comes the gun.I also use it if my car/s are exceptionally dirty.
Also if I put 2 ounces in the bottle and 2 ounces in the bucket I can go through some carwash as I have 3 to 5 cars to wash.I try to wash my car/s 2x a week.:passout:

I just ordered a "FOAM CANNON" which is suppose to connect with a pressure washer and produce a much thicker (shaving cream like) foam ,a foam gun was my initial choice but unfortunately the water pressure in my house is terrible and I thought it may not be enough pressure for a foam gun,I will find out how this foam cannon performs ahhh in about 5 months or so:D

Well since I made the above post I have used my new foam gun and it took me 15 minutes longer to do the wash than what it normally takes me.

The gun did NOT make foam just a lot of very soapy water.
I wasted a lot of soap I poured about 8oz of soap in the jar added NO water put the gun on maximum setting and before I was done I had used all of the soap and never had any foam just a hell of a lot of soapy water.
Looks like this thing will join all the other worthless gadgets that I have bought down through the years.
My first impression on this gun was correct it is just a gimmick to waste your money on.

As I said to start....the foam gun is not a time saver...on just a car..to me its not...on large jobs it is....I think that you should go back and play with the settings....I can get mine to foam up pretty good and not waste a lot of soap....sounds like you had yours set on high so that it was sucking up soap fast...its something that you kind of have to play with a bit....I did with mine
