I have about 10 boxes of ceramic tile left over. I couldn't really think of anything to use it for other than the garage. I know flooring in the garage is usually epoxy or tiles specifically made for the garage, but is putting ceramic tiles in a garage unheard of?
 
I've seen ceramic in garages before and it worked fine. They were smaller tiles though. I doubt that a larger tile would break if they are properly bedded but I'm no expert. An experienced tile layer is though :)
 
You could do it. I've seen huge 18" tlles used in garages. I would just look at using grout sealer regularly. Also,some ceramic tiles may be slippery when wet!
 
i have ceramic tile on my breezeway between the garage and house-only about 8 feet or less. i have to say, :down i hate it. it's slick even with a light rain, let alone snow, etc. its cheap and such, but i don't see it as the last surface that will be on this floor.



that said, i think it'd be WAY too slippery to put under my car when it rains, etc.

as for grout, i would go with black to begin with to avoid the disheartening when it does turn black and you put down white.



wouldn't happen in my house. not ceramic at least.
 
Tile in the garage would suck for a few reasons; Very slippery unless it is a commercial tile with a rough textured surface, prone to beakage, easily stained grout- unless you use an epoxy grout which is not stable in direct sunlight, hard to roll over with a creeper or floor jack, hard to replace dammaged sections. I installed lots of tile floors in my remodeling business so I have alot of experience in this area.
