Flex users please step inside.

OK Flex users, tell me your routine?

What speed do you ise the most?

What pads seem to work the best with the Flex?

What is your killer combo, pad, polish and speed?

I want to hear what is working for you.

I am proficient with my Rotary and also have a Makita BO6040 which is very similar to the Flex so I am no stranger to the orbital with forced rotation but still like hearing from people that have been using the Flex for a while what speeds they use etc...

Thanks everybody.

For serious corection i use pfw with megs 105 with the rotary. When using the flex i allways use speed 6 with menzera products.

Killer combo would be megs 105 with the rotary and then menzerna po85rd final polish with the flex da..

Just got done going over my GTS's clamshell with P085RD at 5 - 6 and it worked AWESOME. Love the machine. Love the variable speed trigger right where it is supposed to be etc..

I thought my BO6040 was a nice machine but this thing is so much nicer to use. Makita may be a workhorse but when using it all day I would rather be swinging a Flex.

I think my Makita 9227 and the Flex is the perfect combo.

My best results so far:

CG Diamond Cut 1500 on a 8" 3M Wool Compounding Pad via Makita 9227C

CG Pro Polish on 6.5" LC Green CCS via Flex 3401

3M Ultrafina SE on 7.5" LC Black Pad via Flex 3401

CG M-Seal on 6.5" LC Red Pad via Flex 3401

476S by hand...

You could swap a 6.5" PFW for the 3M wool pad and use the Flex but prepare to make 2-3X more passes with the Flex VS the rotary. I can't even imagine compounding with a PC!!!

Other notes:

I've found CG 1500 Diamond Cut to be VERY comparable to M105.

I've found CG Pro Polish to be VERY comparable to Menz 106FF.

Speed 4 to 6 and i also use the trigger to control speed more so than switch speed. Pads i have used the edge green, blue, yellow, white. Lc orange, white, blue, black, PWF a few times too haven't tried my green wool pad from edge yet. Polishes mez SIP.106FF, IP and Micro polish.

The lack of a smaller backing plate for smaller pads really seals the deal for me on this one :( That and the all but impossible to acquire edge adapter.

How are the backing plate issues now?
