Flat Vs. Grooved/dimples pads?

Anyone have information on Flat pads versus dimpled/grooved pads? Is one better than the other or does it come down to personal preference? Would a dimpled or grooved pad "hold" a polish or polish residue? How does it differ using them on a rotary and a DA?

I was recommended to use the Uber 5.5 flat pad from guy's off this board, got them through Phil @ Detailer's Domain, great pad seems to work without issues

very happy with them just need to get some 4" now for tight spots.

Thanks for the link! Well I guess I will have to spend more money to try them out..... I take it the pad make up is the same, orange flat is the same orange ccs etc?

Daman, I am looking to get 6.5 pads so I could use them with both my Flex 3401 and Metabo pe12-175 (coming soon)

Mabye a flex is different(probably)but my PC had a hard time with a 6.5 trying heavy correction for me,so that's why i went to the 5.5 then 4" soon here.

i'm sold on the flat pads, but i'm no pro. lol

I think the 6.5" pads are all you can use on the Flex, it comes standard with the 5.5" backing plate. Unless you jump for the Edge adaptor which I am really no looking to do.

daman, what backing plate are you using for the 4" pads on your PC?

Havent got one yet need to order it, but the one i'm gettin is through Phil @ Detailer's Domain. just his Hook & Loop 3.5.

Whats your favorite brand of flat pads?

Anyone have feedback on DD's Uber pads?

those pads just came out a short time ago i think so allot of guy's may not have had a chance to try them yet?, i'm very pleased with them.

i'd like to hear feed back on them too.

uber flat pads...from detailersdomain.com

ccs pads suck IMO - they are designed to hold onto product so you "use less" but if you accidentally press harder on the final pass, you have to do it all over again because you have to break down the "newely applied" product

if using the PC, use 5.5 for the polishing...6.5 = too slow!

RO- such as the porter cable- more correction with smaller pads.

Rotary- More correction with larger pads.

The Uber Flat pads are very, very nice. I like all of them except for the orange, too stiff and unforgiving for my taste.

What flat pads do you use in place of the orange pad? Have u used these LC flat pads? New Product
Lake Country Classic Flat 6-1/2" Foam Pads
I believe they are a CCS, is that what the softer blue backing is? This is all I have used with my 3401, but they are not flat, but the dimpled pads.

More Uber (DD) pad users?

Anyone have comparison data on the PPI of the LC and Uber, I know Uber (DD) lists the PPI, but I have not found anything on LC... I am trying to compare to wat I ahve now.
