FK425, why don't I get it?

Is that over top of a wax or a sealant?



IME FK425 doesn't always play nice with waxes, but it's always been Accumulator-proof on sealants.
 
Over waxes (s100 & rg55). So far I 've always topped fk1000 with a paste wax.



My next substrate will be optiseal. Not sure if I will wax on top, but in any case I will try both 425 and DG and report again.
 
Ch96067- Ah, yeah, I think you'll have fewer FK425 issues when you use it with synthetics. I thought I was the only person who ever had issues with it over waxes :D Welcome to the club!
 
I would think the trick with using fk over waxes is to very quickly buff it off. I will be alternating with DG to compare anyway until I throw z8 in the mix :)
 
Like I said on my earlier post FK 425 worked fine for me on polymers and sealants. But streaks on wax or carnaubas. On the other hand Griots Speedshine works fine on wax or carnaubas no streaking.
 
I was using 425 religiously after every wash on my malbec black G. The LSP on it was a sealant, and I had zero issues with streaking from the 425. Sprayed it on a panel, let it set while I sprayed it on a second panel, then went back to first and buffed in/wiped off. The look was OK, the slickness was nice, but I never saw the anti-static properties (its a black car so Id see everything anyway, but I could leave the car in the closed garage overnight and come out to dust on it in the morning)



Alas the car is now OptiCoated so no more 425 on it for me :) Im *almost* regretting the OptiCoat because now I cant play with stuff on the car. No worries though Ill just use the wifes car or my beater truck as my proving grounds.

Made no diff in my case, it simply affected a solvent action and caused issues. I've always suspected that it was related to the paint's condition (this was on the beater-Audi; lots of pitting/micro-fissures/cc failure) but it still scared me off using FK425 on waxes.

Same experience here, and yeah, that SpeedShine is my fave of waxes.

Just navigated here from Griot's site after placing an order for the SpeedShine due to needing a good every day QD for waxed finishes. I've never used SS before. I'm sure glad I still have some spare spray bottles.
 
I use both 425 and OID. I use 425 to wipe down before putting on a LSP. I also use it when my vehicle is very clean and I just need some theraputic time. It is not as thick as OID and is VERY easy on/off and really slick if you LSP is good. Now I use OID when done with a ONR wash. Actually, when I wipe a panel with ONR and I'm about to dry, I spray OID on and then dry. Makes drying real easy and gets you a nice slick coat applied in one step...best tip I was ever given. So there's a place for both really.
