FK 425...hmm

I've had a chance to use 425 a couple of times now; once over Zaino and once over Souveran.

It seems to be a nice QD, but I'm not getting the "scream about it" results that others have raved about. The cleaning ability seems quite mild. The appearance is boosted but not dramatically. Slickness is nice, but I can think of slicker QDs.

I can think of a few QDs I would reach for before 425, but I'm going to use it more before I pass final judgement on it.

Did you notice a reduction of dust sticking to your paint with the FK-425? It is the anti-static properties that I want to know about. I have to dust my truck about 3 times a day. Dark colors show dust bad. You do not think it pumps the shine up at all?

Dust seems no more and no less than other products I use. There is an improvement in appearance, but nothing to get overly excited about.

Zane, can you compare this to CG's Speed Wipe Spray? It too is supposed to have "anti-static" properties, although I can't really tell a difference between the stuff I have now and the stuff I had before they touted it as "anti-static."

Al - no problem.

Jared - I haven't used CG SWS, so I can't comment directly.

What other QD's do you like/use over #425? I would be interested in hearing your thoughts on a few others.

Well, I guess it depends on the wax/sealant and/or what I need it to do.

With a carnauba finish, I like to go with QuikShine. With a sealant finish, I like to go with Adam's DS, Zaino Z6, and the original version of WG Detail Spritz. If I'm looking to remove polish, clean, etc. I like to go with Final Inspection #34.

I have a gallon of this on the way. Went through my 1st 16oz and absolutely loved it. GREAT on black. It is as good as (or better) than my previous favorite - 4* UGE. However, the UGE is becoming increasingly scarce and is a bit more $$.

This QD is one of those products that the results are truly in the eye of the pereson applying. I know of several reputable detailers that sing it's praises. I have used two four ounce bottles with good resutls but did not notice the extra pop that was mentioned by others.

Nice product but certainly not better than some of my favorites which you listed in your initial post, Zaneo.

I think QD's enhance the look of certain paints. What may work on one 's
paint may not enhance the look s of another.I use quick shine after washing,if i wax i use S&G.

Exactly my findings/thoughts so far. I like it, but at the same time, I'm a little let down.

I can remember a few threads on forums where I was getting involved with trying to change the minds of others on the anti-static thing. I think I forgot to see the forest thru the trees. I definitely did not drink the Koolade as I have on other products.

I have had good luck with certain products that others found truly suspect. I have found a plethora of products that trip my trigger. FK1 products are not one of those trigger tripping products in my eyes.

it is slick, but it streaks... not badly, but it streaks. As a matter of fact, I was told on their site to wipe up and down, rather than left to right ... apparently to decrease the visibility of the streaking...

Adams cleans better, doesn't streak and is pretty damn slick.

Fast clean and shine is also awesome.

I like 425 but I do not think its the end-all be-all of quick detailers. It is part of an excellent combination of FK products. I would put it in the top 3 of quick detailers. Although not the same proposed function, Z8 makes my black paint look a little wetter.

I do however like FX-100 finished with 425. I have trouble with FX-100 smearing and have to follow up with 425 to get the finish perfect. That combo makes my black paint glow.

I did this list night and the car looks like it is soaked in oil today.

Its excellent on exterior windows.

If it streaks then it tries to clean up some silicone under itself. Minor incompatibility issue.
