First White Car, Need help!!

I recently got a white/pearl car....and would like a few inputs on how to detail it correctly. I am looking for a deep gloss, and would like to only detail this car every quarter or so.

Car paint condition is still pretty good, no extreme scratches or swirl marks.


I am still very new, can you review and see if I am missing a step or if i should add/replace any particular items?






1.Car Wash = Meguiar's G7164 Gold Class Car Wash Shampoo & Conditioner
2. Clay Bar = Mothers 07240 California Gold Clay Bar System
3. Glaze = Meguiar's M7 Mirror Glaze Show Car Glaze
4. Wax = Collonite Insulator wax 845
5. Final Coat = Chemical Guys WAC80816 Hybrid V7 Optical Select High Gloss Spray Sealant and Quick Detailer
6. Clean Glass: Meguiar's G8224 Perfect Clarity Glass Cleaner
7. Protect Glass: Rain-X Glass Treatment Trigger
8. Clean tires and Wheels = Mothers 05924 Foaming Wheel & Tire Cleaner
9. Black the trims: Meguiar's G15812 Ultimate Black Plastic Restorer
10. Interior and under the hood = 303 Aerospace protectant

nice ride. I take it that you do not want to try to correct any paint defects first, but would rather fill them with the megs #7 glaze and then coat over top the glaze with your wax/sealant combo?

Correct, no paint correction needed, just wanted to be sure I have the right combo/mixture and items.
 
ok, the only problems I can see is that usually a sealant is applied first and then followed up with a wax. collinite 845 is good stuff, but really more of a sealant than a wax, so you are basically using two sealants. just apply one and see how it looks. I'm a fan of blackfire products. if it were me, I would first use Blackfire Gloss Enhancing Polish , which is a good cleaner with some filling ability, and follow up with some Blackfire Wet Diamond, All Finish Paint Protection, which looks great on white. if you want that extra bling, let the sealant cure for 12-24 hrs out of the weather and then over-coat with Blackfire Midnight Sun Batch #25 Carnauba Paste. looks awesome together.
 
My I suggest Iron X after washing to get contaminants out of paint. I did my wife's white car and you should have seen all the purple spots come out..

White is nice in that it's easy to keep looking good and minor marring (swirls/etc.) doesn't show.

I'd decontaminate it with something other than clay to preclude the appearance of "rust blooms" from ferrous contamination. I like ValuGard's ABC system but others use different products to do the same thing.

I'd skip the M07 and use an All In One ("AIO) product instead. I have decades of experience with M07 so it's not like I hate it, just not right for this vehicle.

I'd top the AIO with FK1000P after the next wash. That should take care of it for many months and that product looks *great* on white. Better protection than the 845 too (again, not hating on it as I do use it from time to time, but on white...FK1000P wins hands-down).

Then just wash it for months on end, occasionally reapplying FK1000P if you notice the beading changing for the worse.

SO:
-Decontamination product(s)
-All In One product
-FK1000P

Those'll take care of it for many years, you'll just be buying shampoo and tire dressing.
 
Also for a white car to truly pop make sure that all your black trim and tires remain the deepest black possible. If you're considering tinting windows that helps as well. The contrast of your bright white paint against the deep black of your trim and tires is gonna make it look even more eye catching. Good Luck!
 
I would opt for a regular polish versus a glaze.

An AIO is nice but if the intent is to top it then the way I see it, is why not use a polish and then seal. Considering going to all that effort in topping the AIO. Something like HD Polish, Meguiar's M205, just to name a couple would be something to consider.

I'm still a fan of Wolfgang for the trim. I didn't like how Blackfire Trim Sealant acted on rubber when applying.

To answer your question about tire dressing that would offer a matte look, I have used these and they will all give you that look: Meguiar's D163 Tire & Trim Gel, Pinnacle Black Onyx, Blackfire Total Eclipse, Wolfgang Tire Gel, Detailer's Pro Tire Gel. Another option is going with a tire coating such as Detailer's Pro, Tuff Shine and even Turtle Wax Endura Shine tire coating. They will last longer than a tire gel.

Edit: Consider going with 5" pads on the PC to take better advantage of the tools power.
 
a few questions,

Glaze vs Polish, is a glaze just less abrasive?

Do I really need a polisher if there is no swirl marks or scratches?

What are the benefits of putting a wax on top of a sealant?

What is a "gloss enhancer"? is that just a glaze? example: Chemical Guys White Light Hybrid Radiant Finish

When you wax...is there a minimum time you have to wait? for it to "haze"
 
glaze just attempts to fill in the scratches. polishes help to correct the defects with abrasives and level the finish. your ride is several years old and unless the finish was maintained with double bucket washes since it was new, I will guarantee there are swirls and scratches in the finish. white tends to make it less obvious, so get it out into bright sunlight and view it at different angles. unless you have a show car finish, I always feel normal paint will benefit from polishing to enhance gloss and shine. some folks feel waxing over a sealant will add depth, the clear finish will actually appear thicker, warmer. gloss enhancers are anything that will help increase surface shine. a lot of waxes need to haze before removing. let it dry enough till you can swipe it with a finger and it removes cleanly.

I, too, use a ton of M07, but it's most effective on older, single stage paints. One product I'll never be without for white paints is DuraGloss 501 Marine cleaner/polish.
It brightens up white paints noticeably when used with something like an LC White pad or Meguiar's yellow. It's also a pretty decent sealant, especially when mixed 4:1 with DG601. You can also top it with any wax or sealant after an overnight cure, or immediately when DG601 is mixed in.
