First two coats of z-5 and z6

One other thing to keep in mind. The methods listed above are MY methods and not the recommendations of the manufacturer. I've found that it works and that's why I do it that way. I don't believe they recommend spritzing the paint with Z6, but that's the way I do it.

I also lightly spritz the paint with Z6 when I apply BFWD, which is also not manufacturer recommentation. But I like it.

I'm not much of a fan of hand application of liquid sealants/waxes (except for Zaino, I always use the PC for liquid LSP's), but I do share your love of the end result (i.e. slickness, shine, slickness, slickness. Oh BTW, did I mention slickness?):out:

I'm 50/50 on machine/hand application of sealants. Application by PC makes it go a little quicker. Hand app in a pinch. I do like application by PC with a Black 3M Waffle Pad. Very soft and the sealant spreads very evenly.

While we are on the Zaino subject, why do people layer Z2 over Z5? Is it because Z5 will fill and Z2 will not. I have never tired zaino but I have always wondered.

The website claims that Z5 fills in light swirls, but I haven't experienced any of it's swirl-filling capabilities. Z5 is supposedly for dark vehicles whereas Z2 is for light colored vehicles. Personally, I prefer Z2 over Z5 for all colors, but I have lots of Z5, so I usually add ZFX to Z5, apply 2 to 3 layers of it on my car and then add one layer of Z2 to get Z2's sparkle.
If you're all about durability, Zaino is the sealant to get. I still haven't found anything that will outlast it. Some people will disagree with me, but I assure you, Zaino will always be in the durability conversation.

Z5 has very little filling properties. It just has a little different look. IMO Z5 is better on darks, Z2 is better on lights and metallics.

Why do people layer Z2/Z5? Just for grins I guess.:D

I've always heard Z5 for depth, Z2 for shine..... both products get both results!

But don't forget the Z8!!! for the WOW-factor!:drool5:

has anyone layered Z2 over any other sealants.

I've layered Z2 over Klasse AIO. It looked great. Not sure if durability was compromised or not, but it still sheeted/beaded like it was just applied after one month and two washings? Most sealants/waxes I've used does not show the same beading power after even only one wash. Z2 did it with no hesitation.

PC speed 3, with 3M Black waffle pad. No pressure, just the weight of the machine.

Same pattern as by hand. Front to back, back to front, very slight over-lap, ONE PASS ONLY. It goes very fast. I apply sealant to an average size car in 10 minutes.

I had a black 2001 Grand Prix for almost 5 years and always used Z5 on it. That's the car that I never polished and had so many layers of Z5 I couldn't even count them! (Fanatic? Yes.):cornut:

When I sold it to my son in 2006, it looked as good as the day I bought it. Never polished.

I really want to try BFWD......I know they are very strong competitors and I dont care about that , but I know its an aw sum product from what I read about it.Theres nothing like learning by your own experience ! and others !!

:Swordfight: :cornut:

No, but I've layered BFWD over Z2. I just really wanted to see if they were compatible for bonding, etc.

Evidently they bonded fine because the car looked fantastic after I was finished!:w00t::wink:

Blackfire bonds to Wekstatt Prime Strong & Acrylic Jett too. Improved the gloss without destroying the wet look and flake glimmer Werkstatt left.

My new black Cobalt SS got two coats of Zaino yesterday after a wash and clay bar,I am impressed on how easy it is to use...I am an ol wax guy...its nice not to have to rub my ass off removing wax residue....I think I could get used to this :notworthy: it does take sum getting used to to get the application down whereas its thin enough even after putting on a spritz of Z-6 on the applicator....any tricks to this ?
You are giving up the wet nuba glow for a hard candy shine?
