after several visits and reading this forum, i decided to give my truck a detail. but i would like to ask what are some good combination to use like, clay, carwash, wax, and all that.

i have no polisher so i will be doing this by hand.

thanks.

For wash, I love Meguiars Gold class using the two bucket method. One to get clean wash out of and another to squeeze out your mit in.

For claying, I would pick up a kit from your local autozone by claymagic or meguiars.

As for wax, and it being a truck, you might want to look at some durability, and an easily renewable shine.

I recommend you do the Duragloss process.

1) Duragloss 601 bonding agent [let stand 30 mins until whole car is hazed, then buff off.]

2) 2-3 coats of Duragloss 105 [make sure they go on a few hours apart]

3) After the last layer dries, top it with Duragloss Aquawax.

optional: If you are looking for a scratch remover that can be worked by hand, look at Meguiars ScratchX.

Everytime you wash it, just put a fresh coat of AW on. Im loving this process on my camry. Great wet look, beading, and really makes my flake pop in the sun.

look at duragloss.com for all your DG needs, or your local NAPA might have all of these.

Make sure you get a few applicator pads. The 4 pack terry ones work good from autozone. Look for some good microfiber towels as well. I like these green ones I can get at my local Target that do a great job drying the car and buffing things off.

to clarify #1...you do not remove 601 prior to the first layer of 105...let 601 haze, then apply 105 on top of it...let that haze...then remove BOTH at the same time. additional layers of 105 can then be done w/out 601 for added protection.
