First New car since 83!

Hi all and glad to be here to check out the new products to keep a new car looking good. I'm here in Southern California, a native in fact, Pasadena to be exact. My last New car has been my dd all the way up to now and it was an 83 GTI that I ordered and fell in love with. So it being a hard act to follow seems logical that I now have a 2016 GTI! Wow talk about time marching on I guess I have been caught in a time warp as it feels like I'm going from a model A to a Cobra. Here's a shot of them together and once again I must say I'm glad to be here among all of you informed guys for a tip now and then!

How many miles on the old GTI? I had an 1986 VW Golf that had over 200,000 miles on it when I sold it for $500. It was a very good car. I've been a VW fan ever since, at least the ones built in Germany! Welcome to Autopia.
 
Had about 350K when I retired 16 years ago and have gone through a few clusters since then. This GTI was 1st gen built in USA. Thanks

You really got my attention with the title of this thread; I think it's *SO* cool that you still have your '83! The new one *is* a great car, and that's a good color for it IMO. But I gotta admit I'm just crazy about your older one.
