First impressions of the urofiber 50/50 polisher pad

Recently I posted a question on how to clean a urofiber polisher pad. I got my answer, so now I`m going to post my impression of it after using it to do a little "deeper" clean up of my Camaro`s paint.

Since many of the Hybrid Solutions products are vanishing from the stores` shelves, I`ve had to do my restocking on-line at Turtle Wax.com. I needed more 1&Done Compound and I wanted to try the Ceramic/Graphene `Inside Job.` While I was browsing, I saw that they had the black & white Urofiber 50/50 polishing pads that I`ve seen all over YouTube that people were raving about. It was in the budget, so I ordered 1 to try it for myself (spoiler alert! I WILL be buying more of them).

Everyone on here has seen my Camaro when I get done with it, and in pictures and to 99.9% of the Non-detailing population, it looks better than new. But to "MY" detailer`s eye - and anyone else with a similar mindset - the (many) flaws are obvious, and I wanted to do something about them.

The car had already been washed and had been sitting in the garage, so it was still perfectly clean - but I gave it a good QD wipe-down anyway. Then I broke out the polisher, the 1&Done Compound and put the Urofiber pad on the polisher. I put 4 small drops of compound on the pad and started with the roof. I QUICKLY found out that since the Urofiber DOESN`T soak up product like a foam pad, I only needed to use HALF the amount of compound with it as compared to a foam pad.

I also noticed the "pattern" of compound being spread around was "different" than the pattern of a foam pad and the FEEL of the Urofiber moving across the surface also felt different. I had my Porter Cable set on "6," since it was cut I was looking for. After a small test spot, I realized that 1) I didn`t have to use nearly the downward pressure on the machine, and 2) I didn`t have to "work" an area nearly as long to get BETTER results.

On the Camaro (to MY eyes), there was STILL some oxidation (or whatever) from the fallout damage that occurred in the Spring, as well as some light to moderate scratches that even my heaviest foam pads wouldn`t touch. When I buffed the compound off the test spot, ALL of that was GONE. The only remaining defects were some deeper scratches (not many though), that I`m simply not comfortable chasing after.

The "best" part, was that I didn`t have to chase the Urofiber pad (as aggressive as it seems to be) with a lighter pad to clean up any buffer trails - there WEREN`T any. That pad has absolutely made an impression with me and as soon as I detail a car for money, I WILL get 4 or 5 more of them (the majority of the cars I detail are for family, and I don`t charge them - mainly because "I" go to THEM and offer to detail their cars, instead of them coming to me, because retirement can be BORING!!).

I`m also likely going to make the Urofiber pad my initial "Go To" pad for a "new to me" detail, especially if the car has never been machine polished before, since the pad works so well and FAST at bringing a surface back.

Don,
The 3" pads are sweet for tight areas as well as IMHO the right size for the PC due to lack of power.

I know my PC isn`t even close to being very powerful, but that Urofiber pad had incredible results on the hard GM paint on my Camaro, even with the 5" pad. I honestly don`t have or foresee a need for anything more powerful than my PC.
