First detail shopping list

Hey, i'm reading the forums for over an year now and learned a lot. The last three days i made a list. Till now, only for exterior car care. I will wait with the interior till spring.

I think, i did my homework but you may be the judge:

Wheels:

1: 1Z Wheel cleaner

2: 1Z Tiefenpfleger

3: AG Super Resin Polish

4: AG Extra Gloss Protection

Exterior

1: Sonüs Gloss Shampoo \Genuine Wool Wash Mitt & Sonüs Ultimate Drying Towel

2: Sonüs detailing clay with gloss shampoo as lubricant

3: =1

4: #83 / 1Z Ultra Paint Polish \foam applicator path

5: #82 / 1Z Paint Polish \foam applicator path

/not 6: Sonüs Paintwork Cleanser \MF applicator path

7: AG Super Resin Polish \foam applicator path

8: AG Extra Gloss Protection \foam applicator path

9: P21S Carnauba Wax \foam applicator path

One question: How many MF Towels and what sort do i need to begin? I was thinking to buy one package of "Sonüs der wunder polishing towel" which carries two towels and then use some cheaper locally avaible MF Towels.

Two "question": Will the P21S work in combination with the AG? I thought i've read that this works but not very sure anymore.

Feel free to give me your thoughts.

BTW: I'm from Holland :(

My advice is have LOTS of MF available. Depending on how many different processes you are doing, you will go through them like crazy. Plus, they work well for lots of different things in the interior also. You don't need them to all be WW, though. I'll usually go through about 5-10 of them on a car. And keep the stained ones for non-paint work.

I would put the Extra Gloss into a spray bottle and then spray the pad, you use less product and ensure a very thin layer. Yes, P21S will work well on top of the Autoglym.

@zzyyzx: You use 5-10 normal MF Towels, i guess. Or WW towels?

@Lowejackson: Yes, i read this before. But tnx for the tip.

I bet you're right. But have to start somewhere considering i don't have loads of money. Me thinks i need to get out and go find a good deal.

What a brillaint idea, I have a five litre can off this and was just going to decant some into a flip top bottle, im not now!

4: #83 / 1Z Ultra Paint Polish \foam applicator path

5: #82 / 1Z Paint Polish \foam applicator path

6: Sonüs Paintwork Cleanser \MF applicator path

7: AG Super Resin Polish \foam applicator path

I'd sure rather go with the 1Z choices in 4 & 5 instead of the Meguiar's stuff. The PP is sorta comparable to the #83, the UP is more aggressive. Maybe get some 1Z MP too, as it's a milder polish more comparable to the Meg's #82.

I wouldn't use both 6 & 7, I'd just get the SRP to use after the other polishes.

And I wouldn't use any "cheap" MF towels for anything except maybe wheels/etc. No point in risking marring to the paintwork.

Once you get the wheels sealed with the AG, just use regular shampoo on them or else you'll clean off all the AG.

I can't imagine why the P21S wouldn't work over the AG, but I dunno if you'll find it necessary. I'd layer the EG for a while and see what you think.

@Accumulator:

Indeed, i was leaning towards the 1z products. I checked them again and understand why i should get 1ZMP.

About the MF towels. Wasn;t planning on buying cheap ones. Only cheaper then Sonus ones.

True about the wheels.

About the P21S; I think(read) that a carnauba topping will give a deep gloss. Especially on dark colored cars. I think i'll just buy the P21S. Never a lost i guess. When i would like to buy it later, i have to pay shipping cost again to the netherlands.

Ohw, Does the SRP do the same job as the paintwork cleaner? Would i never need Sonus Paintwork cleaner? Cause, again, if would to buy it anyway, i got to pay shipping costs again.

@RichPug306xsi:

Then i will surely buy it, i guess

Domi- OK, I see about the shipping to Holland.

The 1z Ultra is pretty strong stuff, so only use it when the PP won't do the job. It's handy to have around though, so I'd order some (shipping charges and all...).

The Autoglym SRP *does* clean. I dunno how it would compare to the Sonus as I haven't tried that yet. The SRP does not clean quite as well as Klasse AIO, but it still does a good job, and you won't (shouldn't, at least) need too much cleaning power after using the polishes. In fact, after using the 1Z stuff, IMO all the SRP will do is clean off the wax that the 1Z leaves behind.

Just a random thought: I like the "1Z polish look" so much that I usually don't use anything over top of it except for 4* UPP (but I really oughta try the 1Z GW). I can't bring myself to replace the "1Z look" with a "Klasse or Autoglym look". On some paints the 1Z stuff just looks special.

FWIW, I don't find the P21S to give a "deep gloss", it's more of a shiny-surface wax IMO. Don't mean to sound too down on the product, but I just wan't impressed by it. For a similar look with better beading/durability, I'd use Meg's #16. For a deeper, richer look, I'd use Pinnacle Souveran. But *so* many people love the P21s that I'd better just shut up about it ;) It's not like you'll be disappointed by it or anything.
