First Click & Brag - Interior job from hell!

I've found simple green to work very well as well. My first car was one I resurrected after 5 years of sitting in my mom's back yard. Used the simple green to remove the algae and the majority of the stains. Unfortunately set-in coffee doesn't come out.

I'd wear a glove when you wash the carpets though just because the base tends to dry out your hands. Did you just dump water onto the carpet or you lightly misted them? For this job I simply used a garden hose with a mist attachment. After you vacuum, lightly mist the surface. It primes the surface just enough so that when you spray the cleaner it gets absorbed nicely as the water helps to bring it deeper into the carpet to get at those stains.

Funny enough the owner is a microbiologist...nowhere near any tar or oil source (to my knowledge at least)...I qouted my friend the job without seeing the car (which was my mistake). I didn't want to bump the price up but I offered him some add ons which sort of compensated me for the extra time I spent and added more profit to the job. hooray :)



You guys keep mentioning Oxy Clean. I'm definitely going to try this out on the weekend as I have a civic coming in for interior, engine bay, wash and wax.
 
Oh.My.God.... thats freaking disgusting..Who threw up under the seat and didnt clean it??? well...apparently you cleaned it, and did a great job at it. Two thumbs up! Good job!
 
At some point I'd start looking into just replacing the carpets. It might have been cheaper and/or less work just to replace them instead of trying to clean them. With an older car, you can find cheap parts on ebay.
