First Click & Brag - Interior job from hell!

Did a friend's mom's 1998 Corolla. The carpets were neglected for almost 8 years, so I had my work cut out for me. This car had EVERYTHING I could think of, and more. I started at about 12, and finished at 9. In that time, I had my hose break, water bottle break (that I replaced the hose with), a bunch of other stuff, and to top it off, the battery died lol! Anyways on to some pics! I was pressed for time so I only got to take pics of the first half of the car. I even had to pull the seats!

The pics don't do justice.

If you look at one of the pics with the driver's mat, there is still some stain remaining. Any ideas on what I could use? Keep in mind the time that these stains have been sitting for. Thank you in advance!

Pretty nice turn-around. But I'd give that car about a 3/10 on my dirty scale. I've only seen 2 10/10s in my day...they're commonly around 5-7/10 where I work.

Looks 1000x better! :up

Too bad people like that will have it trashed again in a month. :(

Not sure about that front mat, sometime stains are so bad you cannot completely remove them.

wow. in the first pic i thought "that's not that bad for a dark gray interior." didn't realize it was beige until the second pic. haha.

Excellent work turning around those matts and carpeting. My guess is that the owners were floored when they first laid eyes on the transformation.

And yes .... please share your process and products.

Hey guys thanks for the comments!

I used somewhat of a ghetto process for this.

Pulled all mats, vaccumed like crazy. Sprayed some mist on them and agitated the fabric with a brush, then vacuumed once more. Then I misted the mats again and applied household carpet cleaner as it seemed to be the only thing working. It was called Spot Shot. I found it was cutting into the dirt very well.

I saturated the heavy stains first while spraying over the rest of the mat. Scrubbed the mats and the foam started to turn brown so I had to rinse and vacuum and repeat about 3 times.

I wasn't able to get all of the stuff out from the seats. Does anyone have any product suggestions for seats (cloth)?

Simple Green and Folex (available at Home Depot) are a couple products you can try on the floor mat and cloth seats. I'm no exper though, and I try to keep my interiors pretty clean. For the floor mat a pressure washer might do the trick! As Scott mentioned, some stains won't come out no matter what you do.

Great job! I can't believe anyone would let their car get so disgusting.

The only thing I am worried is about colour fastness. I cleaned my altima a while ago with some foam cleaner from CarBrite and it removed the stain but made that section of the seat much lighter than the rest. The seats itself were very clean to begin with as I'm the only one who drove the car.

One product that might work is call Quick'n Brite, i have use it everywhere and had good success with it, use it a few yrs ago on the wifes car seats to remove coffee stains and it took it right out.

wow... that's awesome. I tried quick'n'brite (home shopping network?) and it works pretty well. I've found oxy clean to work better on carpets. I'd wear a glove when you wash the carpets though just because the base tends to dry out your hands. Did you just dump water onto the carpet or you lightly misted them? I haven't found a process to get water onto the carpets (just so it's damp enough) to clean them. How did you do yours?

Oh that was nasty. Does the owner work at a tar plant? I'd be wearing a biohazard suit for that job, hope you had gloves on. I found diluted Oxy Clean to work well on stains especially the salt ones we get up here. Sure hope you were compensated well for that job! Amazing turnaround. :goodjob
