First Aircraft detail/Pic

I decided to post this here because it represents a new marketing opportunity for us. if you never thought about aircraft, you should. Now that I did one, I plan on doing more, here is the story behind this one. Gary

I detailed a Porsche 911 Turbo for a guy and when he picked it up and saw it he asked if I would detail his plane. I told him I never did a plane before, and he said "Great, this will be your first". So I drove out to look at it first, and thought it might be interesting. I enjoyed the experience, the only exception is that doing the under body was really hard work. He was so pleased with how the plane turned out that he asked for a stack of my business cards to pass out at the airport. I guess I just entered a new world. How do you like that instrument panel? Its sad how poor most airplane paint jobs are, they cant compare to auto finish for gloss and attention to detail but then again its not looked at closely by anyone for the most part



That is a slick airplane to fly, quite fast for the $ and very good performance. If I only hit the lottery twice I would be all set

I found aircraft to be fun also, somethiong different. Th ebig dealis all the insurance and other red tape you need to go through to do them unless you do your work at a private airport.

I used my professional paint cleaner and sealant on the finish. Thanks for posting about the insurance not sure if my policy would cover that!!!!!!!!!!!! good info for me to check on.

Speaking as someone who has been in the aviation and aerospace fields for a bit over thirty years.....



If this is something you intend to continue with, you need to buy more insurance. I needn't hear how much (if any) coverage you have at the present to know that it is woefully inadequate.

I detail a Cessna 182 (Father's Boss) and an A36 Bonanaza (Father's) and it is much different then detailing a car. For one they have no clear coat so I just use AIO followed up by a good sealant. Cleaning the "belly" of the plane has to be 10x worse then cleaning the engine of a car no matter what you are going to get dirty. Any if you havent detailing a high wing air craft you will officially hate all of them atleast IMO

The belly certainly is JOB in its self. Planes are fun to do though.

Don't forget yachts, an even bigger market than planes and less liability.

I have a customer who is a lawyer that just bought a plane and wants me to polish and wax it regularly. I guess I better check with my agent to see how it will affect my coverage....especially since the owner of the plane is a lawyer.

too long, about 7 hours, and you guys are right, the belly is a night mare.
