FinishKare products?

Although being a European, I don't know what Fantastic & 409 are, this combo indeed a good one!

215 topped with 216 (a liquid wax) is great. FK1 just calls it a one step because of its concealing ability. They say that the 216 is the closest thing to a theoretic liquid Pink Wax. Ah, and it smells significantly better! :D

Bence - 216 will remove 215

Thomas,

In my understanding the 216 doesn't contain anything that would remove the 215. In fact, I use 216 over 1000P with great success. It is even slicker that way.

As FK1 says: "216 is a sealant glaze without micropolishes. It may conceal swirls but it will not remove them.

215 is a cleaner polish sealant with no glaze. It will remove light swirls and scratches but it has no characteristics that will conceal them."

Can 2180 be reapplied after layering on 1000p and Pink Wax or will it not bond? Would there be any benefit to doing this anyway or should I only layer the waxes at this point?

Theoretically it can be layered on top of anything FK1. But it is always wise to apply the most durable product as the base, then the "beautifiers"...

I've been wondering if it would be a waste of time to use 2180 over Swirlbuster polish before I do a couple layers of 1000P. Keep in mind that SB polish has acrylic fillers.

216: excellent for removal of spider webbing and fine hairline scratches. I would suspect that anything under would be removed as well.

Yes, this is the wording on the label, but Torey said that it is a filling/concealing glaze, which is not able to remove anything. Rather a true LSP, like the XMT glaze.

Ok you win, but why aren't you asleep?

Errrmmm... I usually work or browse until 4-5 am. Luckily, I can sleep as much as I want...

But tomorrow I'll have a keyed Mazda 3, a day later a totally matte Toyota Yaris, so the weekend will be busy.

You win this time, I go to sleep! :D

17 is a polish with no protection. Something like SSR1. 185 is a cleaning sealant glaze with good protection. However, I cannot comment on its durability, because the stuff is rather new to me. Two things are sure: thin as water, and has a beautiful, fruity scent.

tdekany has more experience with it.

Bence, pardon my ignorance. If I am using AIO and 17 (to remove fine scratches and light swirling), should I use 17 first prior to AIO, or the other way round?

Thanks!

I asked FK1 on layering 2180 on top of Pink Wax, and they said that although they have not tried it themselves, it wouldn't be a problem. But it would be best if we could let PW cure for a day prior to applying 2180.

If you want protection, stick to the 17/AIO routine. If you top it, it is basically doesn't matter. Figure out which has the better bite, then use it first, then refine the surface with the finer product. However, I think they are pretty close.

Roger that. Thanks Bence! :spot

Im gonna experiment with side by side panels and see which order produces better results.

I just got in my new fk1 products today. I got 215, 216, 217, 336ng high gloss, pink wax, 1000p, wash and wax, 425, 108 top kote. So far I love everything. I love the car wash and wax, it makes everything shine and keeps the dust off. The 217 is truely amazing in how it shines and repels water, it's the same thing as 185 which I have been using for 2 months now. I am going to try the 336ng tomorrow on a bunch of cars and I will let everyone know how it works.

rydawg have you used both pink wax and 1000P?

if so how would you compare them?

I have pink wax and looking to try 1000P

I used 1000p 2 times now and I am loving it. Looks like a glass coat on the paint and the shine is like a super sealant on steroids. I put on 3 coats on (30 min cure) and then 2 coats of pink wax and the paint looked like it just came out of the paint booth. The best part is after a couple of days it really glows!

I am loving everything from them so far and I am super finicky and hard to please.

I got a chance to try out the new 336ng high gloss polish and so far I am loving it. It does dry fast though, but it was also 100 degrees today. It leaves a very clear solid shine with no oils like most finishing polishes. It seems like it does not micro marr like the 106ff but I need to play with it some more.

I love the new 215, 216, 217. I am more amazed by the way water beads off of these products. I looked at a car I did 4 months ago with a top coat of 185(the old version of 217) and I had to wash the car which has not been washed in 4 months. The water still beaded off like I have never seen a product bead before. NOW I AM REALLY AMAZED BY THIS ONE!!!
