Finally got my wheels on! I think they look pretty good. :)

Hey, are those rims the real deal? I wanted to get the Racing Hart C5s but I couldn't find them at a price I could afford.
Nope, they're Katanas and the logo/lettering was removed by the guy I bought them from. He also bought 4 roundels and glued them to the center cap which I like.

Hey Jngrbrdman, now I know why you are interested in painting those calipers. Great looking wheels, but they open up the rotors and calipers to more inspection. What color are you planning on painting them??

Jeff

I was thinking black. Nothing too fancy. They are just stock calipers so I didn't think that red would be neccessary. I have some of that cool chameleon color changing paint that I need to check the temperature rating on. I would like to use that but not if its going to get screwed up on calipers. Like you said before, worst case would be that I have to break out a dremmel and take it all off. I think a cool red/blue color changing paint would look cool on it though. It would look more black from a distance but it would be an interesting effect up close. I dunno. I still need to think about that one.

It looks good although I do think it could use a slight drop. If you're concerned about comfort I'd suggest going with H&R OEM springs (offers .75" drop) along with Koni Yellow shocks. I will guarantee you that it will feel no diffent then stock. I know you're probably tired of hearing people say that it needs to be lowered but I really do think it would be 100% improvement.

BTW: Another option would be to buy someone's stock ITR suspension.:up

Funny you should mention that. I've been playing with the idea of a .75" drop for a few weeks now. I'm worried about the camber issues though. I don't think that a .75" drop will make that much difference on it though. I guess I'll have to try it and find out. The 17" wheels did make it a little taller so a drop would just be like lowering it to stock height again. ITR suspension is an option too, just have to find it. lol Thanks for the advice though. Great minds must think alike, eh? ;)

Mmm, nice wheels! :up

Don't give in to peer pressure to drop your car - it happens a lot. Of course, .75" is nice and subtle and wouldn't do too much to road clearance - just maybe ride because of the stiffer springs. I wish my car had such a mild spring kit available for it. IMO, it looks fine.

Remember that once you step up to larger size wheels the apparent wheel gap increases because of the amount of "dead space" with no wheels or tires in it gets larger. If you want to see a really bad "4x4" look, find an unlowered 95-99 Maxima with 17" or 18"! :sosad

I doubt very much you would have a camber issue with a .75" drop. Camber is usually effected within the range of 1.5 to 2" and greater. If you stay with the oe shocks\struts then you shouldn’t notice much increased stiffness in the ride at all, you might have less body roll. A monotube gas shock\strut like Bilstiens or Konis would stiffen the ride up but oe dampers and sport springs won't by much if at all. Sport springs generally have an increased spring rate,(over oe) of about 20%. After plus sizing, you can actually be contributing to body roll in some case, not sure about your car but again in some cases the springs can bring the stability back to the ride.

I don't think you need to lower your car... you only have 1-2 inches above the tire showing... have you ever seen a stock 3000GT? My car has a good 4-5 inch wheel gap lol... almost as big as my bro in laws F150!

;)

Here's a pic I found... not my car though.

The 99+ Mustangs are the worst at it. I remember when I first saw those. I thought they had a factory lift kit on em. My 97 was nowhere near that tall.

I think I'll wait till next year to get the springs on. I'll give it another winter at the normal ride height before I do anything crazy and see how it goes. Its nice to hear people tell me that it doesn't need to be lowered though. That is such a change of tune when coming out of an import board or something. lol
