Paul,

How do you cook those Pike? Pan fried?

I didn't bring any home. Pike are a PITA to clean. I would probably throw them on the grill with some lemon butter if I brought any home. Any fish is great on the grill with lemon butter. :) MMMMMMMMMM

I went back today and outdid my total from last night. Tonight I got 26 pike! I wouldn't have any idea how many I had on but didn't catch...dozens for sure. The biggest one was 30"(teeth shown in the picture below), and the smallest was 14". How do I know? I have a 30" ruler that I made on the side of the kayak with a permanent marker. I have lines in increments of 1", and larger, darker lines every 6". :)

Here's a couple shots of the lake I was at today and yesterday. You can see the lure I was using today. I had a 8" leader of 12lb line with a steel swivel clip and a #3 Mepps Comet spinner. Above the 12lb leader I was still using 4lb test on my ultralight rod.

In this picture you can see the fallen tree where I caught 3 of the pike tonight:

Look at this beast I snagged from the kayak in Lake Michigan! I ended up snagging 5 of these things. I hate to say it, but the biggest one got away after taking out a ton of line. :(

And another one...

I went out to watch the sunrise from the kayak over the Lake.

Those are both carp. I didn't have a scale that day, but next time I go back (20mph winds means not today) I have a digital scale ready inside my kayak.

The one that was hooked in the back was 32".

I took a trip into the Nicolet National Forest region of northeast Wisconsin last weekend. It was complete with deer flies, horseflies, ticks, mosquitoes, and of course, crappy weather. Over the period of 3 days, we had: 1 tornado warning and 3 severe thunderstorm warnings.

Here's when I decided to leave the lake, after hearing a good deal of thunder. It started to rain heavily within minutes of this shot.

That was a really cool lake. The water is so incredibly clear, you can see down 12ft+ (I measured it by allowing my line to sink to the bottom and then pulling up the line and comparing it to my 6ft fishing rod).

This is what much of the lake looks like within 100 feet of the shore. It's actually 6-8 feet deep in this spot where the picture was taken...

WoodPayaLake.jpg

Over that woodpile is where I caught this guy...

And to show the insanely large population of bass in that lake (largemouth and smallmouth), here's a shot of the water next to my kayak. You should be able to see over a half-dozen bass in that picture.

I actually ended up catching several of those bass!

Oh man it make me wanna move to Wisconsin. btw the 1st pics sure look good on a wallpaper

One of the things I really do love about Wisconsin is the number of lakes and the quality of fishing in those lakes. Northern WI is not heavily populated by any means, so human effect on the lakes/streams is not anything near the effect in more populated areas.

You're right about the wallpaper! New background wallpaper set. :)

BTW I went muskie fishing from the kayak the next day, but unfortunately couldn't catch one. That would have made for an interesting picture...not to mention a very interesting battle! :p
