Finally got a chance to go fishing for a while...

I was in need of a nice day to go fishing for a while...just to relax for a couple hours. I've been working a lot trying to save up money for a Protege.

It was a great day on the water. This stream about 15 minutes from me now has a successful naturally reproducing trout population. It was a blast to catch these on my ultralight tackle. :xyxthumbs I was counting them until I got to 15. I lost count at that point.

I might have to go back and bring a few home for a nice sandwich. :)

Now to take the kayak out and go crappie fishing! :up

Nice Brook trout ! Squashed, you see this ? 15 minutes from home ?

Paul, get your *** back to work now, dont you have some spellchecking somewhere ?

trout looks beautiful. i'm tryin to fly fish myself but can't , due to silly situations or other problems that pop up on the last minute.

Most of them were only about 8-9 inches. A couple may have been close to a foot.

Here's one of the bigger ones...not quite as beautiful as the first pic...

I got to go fishing again today...I was about 35 miles north of here for work, so I decided to take the kayak with me to work, and after work I'd go fishing/paddling on the lakes just north of there.

Here I am at the first lake....

Can you believe I didn't catch/see one fish around that woodpile? :nixweiss

Once again, didn't catch anything by all that wood.

But one good thing came out of that woodpile. Look closely...

Yep it's a Rooster Tail. My favorite lure. :woot:

So I didn't have any bites at all the whole day at both lakes. I didn't even see any fish!

So what do you do when you can't catch anything for the life of you?

Why you take a lunch break of course!

the darker blue is the color of the kayak. The lighter blue is plastic that was glued to the floor at the factory to hold the owner's manual until sale.

Nice catch Paul :)

I think you inspired me enought to go maybe Friday, weather permiting. I've been meaning to really bang out some details this week but I haven't seen most of my friends to schedule them, they all been working during the day and I guess are party poopers at night :o . Anyway I've been so bored sitting around home and i'm still carless so I think i'm going to have to steal my mom's or sister's car Friday and take a nice ride out in the woods.

Well I got a chance to go out again today...this time I was after bass or pike from the kayak.

Here are the results:

I ended up losing two spinners on a couple of pike, so I was looking through my tackle boxes and saw this big thing...I'd never used it in all the time I've had it, which is probably well over 5 years. It's got a hard plastic front half, and a flexible plastic tail on the back:

I made ONE cast, and came up with this guy... :D

After the night was over, the results were this:

15 northern pike

no bass, no bluegills, no perch.

3.5 hrs of fishing

2 involuntary lure changes :(

1 happy fisherman!

But atleast you kept your dignity.

You did keep your dignity, didn't you? You didn't stand up in the kayak and start cursing at the fish you didn't catch, did you?
