Whattup! Figured I'd post a few pics of the ride. Tarmac black Evo 8, done with Poorboy's, ClearKote, and Zymol. Pretty happy with the results....Comments welcome :clown: And yes, I know there are water spots on the wheel. It was sadly pointed out to me well after the pics were taken.

What site are you using for image hosting?

The car looks great...I can't believe how clean the wheels & brakes look.

That's a beautiful Evo 8!

I drove a red one about 2 months ago...I wish I could afford one :punk:

Thanks for the kind words. I'm using photobucket, which is nice because it tags your images for you, so you can copy/paste super easy. And it's free  Which is its best quality.

nice BLACK car......i like the pic third from the bottom
very nice car

Thanks! Yeah I am so anal about my cars, because I only buy black now. I know its hard work, but if you pay hard to play hard. To me, nothing looks sicker than a black car, super clean, looking almost dripping wet, tinted, just cruisin.'

The pics are kinda artsy for a car photoshoot, since I enjoy photography anyways, and tried to fancy them up, so to speak, with various angles and geometry.

Thanks for the compliments.

Thanks. Yeah they're so much fun to drive. I am fortunate enough to have another car for work, so this sees more track time than anything, as evident my my nice and scorched Brembo calipers.

I noticed you're in the Bay Area. I've been in Brisbane since last Monday, and am here through Friday. Its so gorgeous out here. I wish I lived here rather than the cold, harsh New England area. San Fran :punk:

Yea, the weather out here is always great. We don't got no stinking hurricaines, no flash floods, no snow storms, and at least no earth quakes where I'm at in the Bay

It's supposed to be 82* tomorrow and Thgursday, I can't wait! If you're ever out here again and have the Evo, don't be afraid to go beat up some ricers at Sears Point

Nice Evo love the look. I use photobucket as well. I had some trouble posting pics before I began using photobucket. Hey did you know you have water spots on your wheels??

Those are really good pictures. I like how you managed to keep yourself out of any of the pictures. That isn't easy to do on a higly reflective color like black in low light. It reflects everything.

I see the Evo didn't escape the tragedy of orange peel that all cars seem to be having such problems with lately. I saw an '05 Cadillac the other day that had such bad orange peel I wanted to cry.

haha. Yeah, that's everyone's critique. But, when I point out I had to drive 40 miles to get to the shoot spot (not that its even such a nice spot, just liked the mirrored building), its not too bad. But yeah, those waterspots will be the death of me...

Orange peel??? Sorry, not familiar with that term...enlighten please....thanks!

Keeping myself out of the pics was what sort of limited the shots I could take. Yeah, its low light, and they were nice tripod shots because of relatively high ISO setting and long exposure, so they weren't too easy to capture.

You are going to hate me for pointing this out to you.... Right now you are in a state of blissful ignorance. In a second that is going to change. You are about to realize that VOC compliance standards and cost cutting measures have left your paint looking less beautiful than it could. Enjoy your last moment of innocence....

This is orange peel:

Do you see how the reflection of the chain link fence gets all distorted? That dimpled appearance that looks like the peel of an orange is where this problem gets it's name. Once you clear over the orange peel it is very difficult to remove. It requires wetsanding the entire car and that isn't even a guarantee that you can remove it. It is what makes reflections look blurry and not as clear as they could be. It is caused several ways, but thin base coats are one cause along with not sanding between layers of paint. This problem has been getting worse and worse in recent years. 5 years ago you could buy a car with a crystal clear reflective paint job. Now you have to buy a Mercedes in order to do that. It is a shame...

Now that you know what it is, you aren't going to be able to avoid noticing it. Just keep in mind that it is possible to avoid getting orange peel in your paint durring the painting process. If you ever have body work done and the car comes back with noticable orange peel, then I would take it back and tell them to do it again. Make it clear that you expect no orange peel when they are done so they know they have to sand between layers and take their time without cutting corners. I had my bumper repainted a couple years ago and I had them redo it 3 times before they got it right. Perfection is not too much to ask for when they have control over the quality.

Car looks great. I personally like the 3rd pic from the top. Great work, and I know what you mean by keeping the cars clean. My neighbors are starting to think I'm nuts, for washing and either waxing or QD'ing them every sunday. :beer_smil :beer_smil

Yeah those cars are amazing. thanks jingerbreadman for the info. i learned something new today. :D

Oh. Yeah, I noticed that before but never heard of orange peel. Fitting description. Yeah I actually had to wet sand the front quarter panel literally upon delivery, and its now the best part of the paint in terms of reflection. Orange peels stinks, but thanks for the thorough description. Eventually, I'm probably going to have it repainted with House of Kolor paint, and I'll definitely make sure to let them know my expectations ahead of time. Thanks for the advice! :)

On the subject of orange peel on the paint. If u are doing a restortation of a old Corvette or any old car for that matter, u want to leave the orange peel in the paint. That is how the cars came from the factory. What great looking car! I love how it shines from the different angles. I am just curious what zymol product did u use? Since i also use zymol on my car. What did u use on the tires? :horse:
