Final Polish MF?

hammondc

Damned pollen!!!
What do you guys suggest for a Final polish MF? I need the softest out there. I am looking at the DF concours, but if anybody has had experience with any that are better, let me know. :dcrules

Miracle Towel from AutoGeek, usually $9.95 ea but on sale 3 for $16.95 and you'll get 10% off of that.

I'd include these if you happen to get one of the AutoGeek Christmas freebees, they're extremely soft & have over 200,000 fibres per sq/in.

Personally, I feel guilty just taking the freebee so I always order something to say "thank you".

I like these too .... but CMA calls them "Magic Towels". I think this is a matter of relabeling 'cause the Magic Towels & Miracle Towels look & feel exactly the same.

Excellent products.
The Magic towels from CMA (also once sold by Tacscar Tim at a much more reasonable price) used to be my favorite towel too. However, I've come across some new towels in the past year that have replaced the Magic towels at the top of my favorites heap. I finally decided to divide up my supply of Magic towels and place them into my emergency detailing kits for each car (S&W and towels). I don't have to use them very often, but at least they are not totally going to waste.

Don't hold out on us Marj! What's your new favorite towel(s) and where can they be purchased?

I have to say the best towel for final polish that I have used has to be the Poorboy's 21"x36" VELVET SMOOTH (no tag)

:-p :lol Actually, I've become more enamored of specialty towels. Finding just the right towel to go with each type of product has become as much of a goal for me as finding just the right product for each color of paint. Here are my current favorites:

- for QD sprays - I like fast absorbing high pile models and have 3 favorites depending upon the size of the vehicle. For small cars, I like the 16"x16" Mega Plush from Poorboy's. For standard sized vehicles, I like the 20"x40" Soft and Plush from PAC. For large SUVs and trucks, I like the now discontinued :( 30"x60" Super Size towel from Poorboy's. [BTW - The Mega Plush would also get my vote for best overall towel, displacing the Magic towel. It does many things well, and nothing poorly.]

- for removing heavy polish residue - I like densely woven medium pile towels like the 16"x16" Super Thick from Poorboy's. This is a very grabby towel that will quickly remove dried polish residue. I would not use this towel with very wet products (like QDs) because the moisture would saturate the towel too quickly.

- for final buffing and removing LSPs - I like very soft and silky towels. The Velvet Smooth from Poorboy's and the Concours towel from DF are my favorites. I generally use the Velvet Smooth with sealants and the Concours with carnaubas.

- for glass - I like the 16"x16" Glass towel from Poorboy's. This towel is very similar to the Velvet Smooth but in a smaller size. It is a very thin towel which can dip into those hard to reach spots at the bottoms of the interior windshield and rear window areas. This towel works best with light liquids like S&W. Heavier glass cleaners (foamy aerosol types) would benefit from higher pile towels like the Mega Plush.

- for drying - I like a 24"x36" sized waffle weave towel. My favorite is the now discontinued :( original CMA Big Blue Towel. I don't like the new BBT II as well the old version. For current waffle weave offerings, I like the Poorboy's towel as it is a 75/25 blend and seems to be a nice compromise between the 70/30 and 80/20 models (softer but less absorbent versus more absorbent but not as soft).

- for door jams and wheels - I generally dedicate a set of my least favorite MF towels. If I had to pick a specific weave, I'd go for a low pile and densely woven "work towel".

You've probably noticed that many of my favorites come from the Poorboy's lineup. This is not a coincidence. Steve gets all kinds of towel samples sent to him for consideration. Microfiber towels are definately NOT all created equal. Steve knows that I love to experiment with different MF towels, so he often asks my opinion on new arrivals (I'm local and can stop by to try out the towel samples in person). Models only get the "Marj seal of approval" :D if I think they are better than anything else I have tried for that particular purpose and price point.
