Fillers

I had a client the other week that wanted me to get rid of some very light scratches and I told her I would be using the PC and explained that I wouldn't hurt the paint. She wasn't having it. She did not want me to use a machine and she wasn't going to pay for it either. So my question is for vehicles like these, what are some good waxes that have a lot of fillers.

Im not so sure I would even do it then. After a few car washes that glaze will be gone and the scratches will return. What is she going to say then?

CG EZ creme would probably be your best choice though.

Sneak in a panel to polish and use all your best products. Do the rest of the car in a glaze wax. If she notices a difference down the road, then you might have a sale.

Pass on her, if you can't use the proper tools to correct a problem and she doesn't trust you to do so - pass!

3M Imperial Hand Glaze followed with a Carnauba Wax. Charge more because you have to do it by hand though or pass altogether. Honestly, once a client starts telling me how to do my job and what to use and what not to use they are usually more trouble than they are worth.

Thats exactly my attitude towards people like this.

I'd keep an open mind regardng customer product/process requests (hey, if/when somebody does one of *my* vehicles you can bet I'll have some opinions about what gets used).

But when the suggestion is a demand, with no room for discussion, let alone one with no basis in an understanding of this stuff, and it's also a *bad* suggestion... then IMO you oughta pass.

thanks for the advice, I might buy one of those products. I also just might pass on this one. We'll see. Thanks again.

If she doesnt want a machine just tell her you can use a glaze and wax but they will come back. If she says fine do it, take her money, she knows. If she says no, move on then not worth it.

My cousin's grandpa wanted his big F250 done. It is a black truck filled with swirls. I quoted him LOW because it was my cousin's grandpa and he said it was too much and took it to the kid across the street for $75. The kid used glazes and my cousin said all of the swirls where back 2 weeks later and his grandpa was ticked off. LOL

I would be up front and honest.. thats all you can do in that situation.

On the topic of fillers.... when I have a customer that doesnt want to pay for 2 stage polish and I cannot fully remove swirls with one pass I use a glaze to help the rest, CG Creme Glaze.

What is considered the best filler available? I always thought CG Creme Glaze was good but is there anything better?

Thanks.

Like I always tell my wife: "You can tell me HOW you want me to do it, or you can tell me the RESULT you want, but you don't get to do both since they don't always go together.

So let your customer pay you to dictate the PROCESS and live with the less than superlative results; or she can pay you to produce RESULTS and leave you to determine the process. She doesn't get to do both, and she has to pay.

If that's too much hassle, don't bother at all.

I like Product X a lot but I love the smell of EZ Creme Glaze. I also got a sample of RMG but have not used it yet...

I was going to be honest and tell her but I dont't think she would care. If you think about it, everytime I go there(every other week, sometimes once a week) she'll get the wax to cover the swirls so after a good while it will pay off. :) Not too shabby. I will probably try the creme glaze next time I shop. Thanks again
