Fillers for the First time...

Danspeed1- Do you think the need for fillers is in any way related to your recent (IIRC) change in wash regimen?

The old 3M Swirl Remover for Dark Cars (not sure what they're calling it these days) used to work well, ditto for their Imperial Hand Glaze. Either one, under a coat of carnauba, oughta last about as long as the wax itself.

I'm not, however, sure that doing a glaze, then a wax is gonna be a whole lot easier than the multi-step process you used to do with Zaino. I guess the glaze *is* mighty quick and easy compared to correction, but it still seems like a lot of work to do on your b-body. The only products I regularly use that do a bit of concealing are AutoGlym SRP and 1Z WaxPolishSoft and I somehow don't think they're what you're after (I do really like that 1Z WPS though).

Cheap wax that's good on black: Meg's #26. I'm a big Souveran fan myself, but it's kinda pricey for something that needs reapplied so often. Since you like P21s, you might like Meg's #16 (if you can find some), it has that same sorta-bright, reflective look and it beads/sheds dirt very well. Quite durable too.

No, Actually Since I started using the grout sponges the amount of swirls induced during washing has drastically decreased.

LOL Imperial Hand Glaze definitely had its day. I never said RMG is bad. I like it, I just don't love it. RMG is 10X better than Imperial Hand glaze in my opinion, and I am looking to take it to the next step. I bought a huge bottle of IHG, used it once, and then never used it again. Hard to apply, even harder to take off. Doesn't do much for the finish other than fill.

I've heard of AutoGlym but didn't really know what it was used for. This is a good thread, because now I can make a list of these products, go back and do a search on them one by one.... thanx

I just want to give pinnacle a try more than anything else. But I could be more than happy sticking with P21s. What I hate most (the point of this thread) is how after a couple of months, those pesky swirls seem to reappear in my paint. The funny part is, I seem to be the only one that notices them, and I think that pisses me off even more. (If that makes any sense)

Thanks for the direction guys!!!

If anybody's got any more pictures or before and afters they would like to post, I'm all eyes!

The Super Resin Polish is an AIO. Sorta like KAIO except with a *tiny* bit of cut (probably still functionally nonabrasive on your sorta-hard GM clear), a little less effective chemical cleaning, decent filling, and pretty good durability for an AIO. Can stain trim.

I kinda prefer it over KAIO, at least in cases where the trim-staining isn't a problem.

Oh, and glad to hear the wash ONR/GS regimen is working out.

This is pretty much what I am looking for.... I will have to look at this product further. If there is anything comparable on the market, these are the types of products I am interested in.

That stuff seems unbelievable! Do you use it? I can't believe no one on here has ever mentioned it. Maybe they have, i haven't searched, but not recently at least. Its not very expensive either. This might be perfect for that daily driver/express wash and wax?

Guys, well, I haven't encountered anything in terms of filling like this. To a lesser extent Meg's #21 fills well and produces a wonderful look.

Regarding the Auto Balm, yes, I'm using it. It's a very interesting product. It gives a wet, crisp, high definition look and enhances the colors considerably.

It must be applied WOWO with a wet applicator. You have to use VERY little product and the immediate removal is also important otherwise it will be a PITA.

It focuses primarily to protection (especially corrosion) and appearance. Beading is nice to average and contact angles may appear weak even from the start. However, the product is there and does its job very effectively. Another interesting characteristic of BHAB that the surface squeaks under a MF towel - even after a fresh application. IT's not recommended to use a wax under or over it because bonding and durability would be compromised that way. A good QD can be used over it though.

So, it's a very unique product in the world of LSPs.

Rating:

+ Excellent protection

+ Excellent filling of imperfections

+ Outstanding overall look, DOI, color rendering

+ Very durable

+ Very economical

+ Very effective chemical cleaning

- Not the easiest to work with IF you use too much product and/or let it dry

- Strong chemical smell

O (neutral) Beading characteristics and water management is not comparable with a wax or everyday sealant. It's not necessarily *worse*, therefore I rate it as neutral because it is simply different.

BTW, I added another link to my original post.

ONR is just amazing. Every time I wash the car I still feel that uncertainty in the pit of my stomach, but that feeling quickly goes away after I dry the car off and it remains pretty much swirl free, and glows like you wouldn't believe. I don't know what the heck is in ONR but it really accentuates the P21s and brings back the freshly waxed look.

Still though, wash after wash, I know the swirls will return to haunt me.

Just ordered the Auto Balm, got it through the Rubbish Boys site. Came out to 32.** shipped to the US.

Danspeed1, I am in the same boat as you. I drive a black car daily and keeping up with swirls is tough. If this stuff is a great as what Ive read, then it would be a great alternative to polishing all the time and compromising the clear by polishing too often.

Auto Balm is a truly unique and incredible product. I have used on quite a few cars and have nothing bad to say about it. It has amazing filling abilities and offers great protection.

As Bence mentioned, the beading is a little below average, but it resists water spots better than any product I have ever used. I used Auto Balm on my girlfriends black Trailblazer and it rained really quick the same day (of course). When we parked at the mall, the hood was beading lots of water. When we came out about 90 minutes later, it was completely dry and looked just as good, even though it had been driven in the rain. It rained for the next few days and I noticed that it does a great job at repelling dirt as well. Even several months later it was eveident that the AB was still there and protecting very well. The look does drop off after about 4 weeks or so, but the protection is definitely still there.

Auto Balm works incredible on wheels and plastic too! A little goes a long way. I honestly think that you can get 100 applications out of one container.

If you search Auto Balm, a few of my past details should come up that I have used it on.

Here are a few pictures of my girlfriends Trailblazer wearing Auto Balm...
