Few nub questions about meguiars

Well I've been pretty convinced after reading eveyrthing that meguiars detailing products are the best, I just have a few questions about them.

I know scratch X is used to remove swirls and oxidation, but it's not for use with an orbital buffer. My question is that is there another meguiar's product to be used with a buffer that will prep the paint and remove swirls and oxidation? or using scratchX by hand the best solution.

What meterial pads should/can I use for these applications:

- drying

- prepping

- polishing

- waxing

let me make sure I have all my terminology strait:

prepping = removing paint to get rid of imperfections (e.g. scrathX)

- polishing = filling in imperfections

I was also told that using an orbital buffer you cannot burn through the paint or create swirls since it moves in a circle and in an up and down motion.

Another questions is: I have no clearcoat so is their anything special that I need to do, or do I have to use any special products?

Thanks,

Chris

Since you you have decided on your product line, you should go to ;

http://www.meguiars.com/

and browse the site. If you do not have a clear coat, then your paint is a single stage paint. Look for products made for a single stage paint on the meguire's site.:xyxthumbs

Prepping = cleaning and not excluding polishing the paint surface. Also prepping might include Claying the surface. Prepping IMHO, is everything before applying wax or sealant coat/s/

Polishing is leveling the paint and rounding off the edges of scratches using either abrasive or chemical cleaners.

here is a wealth of information for you;

I use Meguiars polishes to prep my paint and have been very satisfied with the results. I'll use DACP for moderate to slightly more severe water spotting, swirls and scratches and use Speed Glaze as my main prep polish. It leaves the finish ready to top, but I like putting a coat of Clearkotes VM before I use my LSP.

Meguairs has a very good and pretty extensive product line, and their prices are very reasonable, but to say they are the best isn't giving credit to many of the other fine prodcuts available out there. Don't be afraid to experiment. That's part of the fun of being an Autopian.:D
