can i be you for a day

Sure:xyxthumbs

While you are being me please get to my "Honey Do" list also. Mow the lawn, pull weeds, wash the dogs and then clean out the family mini-van:scared

:D

Anthony, that thing is amazing :shocked . Awesome work on the detail. Thanks for the tip of topping NXT initially. I'm always looking for ways to give my red teg that little extra uumph to the paint :D.

The engine looks like you should set up 2 chairs behind it and warm your dinner on it after racing. Just simply stunning. I see the sun was quite strong on the front of the car. Paint still looks great though.

Have to ask ya, just for kicks. How is Ferrari paint? I mean I expect it to be amazing, but have you noticed any OP or any defects from the factory?

Again Nice Work!

:up The 360 is indeed a beautiful car.... and even better when detailed by a seasoned Autopian. Excellent work! :xyxthumbs

AWESOME!!!!!!!!! :bow

I can't wait until I get to detail a vehicle like that!! Chevy's and Ford's pay the bills, but a Ferrari is my playground!:xyxthumbs

Love the car and your work, looks awesome!!! How long does it take to do a car like the Modena?

Our GM at work has multiple Ferarris and one of our Supervisors just brought home a 1996 348 spyder and he lives near me. Im going to try to talk him into letting me detail it in the spring. Heck, Ill do it for free just to be able to touch a car like that. THen hopefully the word will spread and I can eventually get into the GM's Ferrari collection (including at least 1 vintage 60's Ferrari).

Sean,

No orange peel but if you look hard enough you will always find a paint flub here and there on these type of cars.

This particular Ferrari has a weird paint discoloration on the roof. Enthusiasts say that these paint flubs and/or interior boo-boos give a Ferrari its "character" and marks it as unique. I say "firget that!" If I am paying over 100k for a car it better be flawless, dang it!:nono

Thanks for the kind words,

Anthony

Stellar work as always, Anthony! :bow NXT and Trade Secret seem to be a winning combination on red.

Ferraris are always a joy to clean since they have such beautiful lines (and much easier than a Diablo). Small, too! ;)

I had a 348 Spider to wash late this afternoon. What a treat after the Nissan Frontier from he!! I did earlier. Just simply washing a Ferrari made me forget about that smoker infested pit of he!! I had just finished.

BTW, it seems you've noticed how little orange peel Ferraris have!

Scott and Mike,

This may sound cheesy but in no way is it meant to be. I hold the both of you and your work in high regard and am humbled by your compliments. Thank you.:xyxthumbs

I hope to get to the black 360 next week but it looks like it may rain Monday and possibly Tuesday :angry

If I detail the black 360 or possibly a 550 Modena, also black, I'll be trying the NXT in combination with P21S and maybe see how UPP works with it. I am wondering though if NXT can be topped with the UPP or the NXT on top of the UPP? Anyone have any thoughts here?

They both seem to be in the same arena and I am wondering if using both is counter productive.

Well I hope the weather holds out for tomorrow as I am looking forward to spending the day all alone with a Porsche 911 and I now need to get everything washed and ready.

God Bless,

Anthony

I'm curious what you used on all that mesh - dressing + brush? It must be a pain to dry all that... Q-tips? :p

I love Ferraris... :up

Hey BW,

The mesh signifies this Modena as an F1, which also includes a paddle shifter, which is ultra cool!

Cleaning the F1 grill is actually really easy, provided they did'nt go mudding in the Ferrari (which is a crime punishable by death). I usually just wash it the same as the rest of the body, on occassion I'll use a real soft brush but you MUST be extra careful as the grill is very easily dented and some of the grill holes can have very sharp edges on them, especially where the grill bends around the rear tail lights.

Drying this area is ultra simple if using an electric leaf blower:xyxthumbs

The picture below shows the very first thing I started to detail on this car. The Modena underneath is pretty much all sealed in with an aerodynamic panel and a air tunnel that runs the length of the car. As the car goes faster it draws in air from the front which passes the length of the car and as it does so it hunkers the car down closer to the ground. The first Modena I detailed some years ago I forgot all about this area and when I pulled the yellow 360 out into the sun it loked great all except for the rear area. It was real dirty underneath there so I had to re-wash it and dress it up.

So this area is the first cleaned from now on and the first thing dressed after it is dried. So word up to all those detailing a 360 in the future......clean this area very well and spray a nice dressing on it and it will look very sharp because as we all know, everyone will just be seeing the rear end of this baby anyways:xyxthumbs

Nice job Anthony ...

AMP01 ... just finished my C4S detail and topped with PS over p21 over SG over AIO ... I like this process and have used it on my Tit Silver M3, Ebony RS6 and now the Speed Yellow C4S ... this last time, I let the PS dry hard (1day) and removed with cheese cloth ... takes time to remove ... I finished with QD and my PC on 4-4.5. I am totally impressed with the finish. It has really leveled out the car's finish (no organge peel). IMO ... the PS is the best final finish because it is very oily and if you let it dry, it truely deepens the last layer (in my case the p21). Give it a try and let me know.

how much u charge?

This particular client is on my maintenance program so he just pays one flat rate a month.

If this was not a regular client I would of charged $300 and up.

ksquared and rhati,

Thank You for the compliments :)

ksquared.... Since I am a pro and do this for a living it would not be cost worthy for me to leave a wax on a clients car for 24 hours nor do I really see any benefit from it as any amount of wax that hazes up and is then removed is just wasted material anyways.

But hey, if it gives you great results then by all means continue:D

Anthony ... curious ... how often to you clay a customers car if they choose the monthly maintenance route ... i assume you clay a car the first time you get it ?

I almost always clay a first time detail and if they wish to be a regular client I may clay their cars once or twice a year after the initial detail. I find myself claying the top portions more often than other areas and many times only one panel will need to be clayed, especially if it or another area has had some body work done.

Adios,

Anthony

Anthony-sick of the rain yet?

Scott..... I am HURLING!!

It's like 40 with a wind chill of 1:shocked :D

I am truly sick of this weather, I mean the cool temps are Ok but it is cloudy and mucky here so no one wants their cars done, even though it may not rain anymore here today it looks like rain so everyone gets gun shy and then I get backed up for weeks down the road:mad:

I take it since you are posting right now you have rain or bad weather?
