Ferrari CS, Audi RS4, R8 Corrections

Right before the Thanksgiving holiday I went on a road trip to service a client in Sacramento who was looking for more as it pertained to the maintenance of his vehicles, the client has "The eye" for detail and wanted to finally get the cars to a point where he could maintain them after the heavy lifting of a major paint correction and detail on all of the cars and he was told about my service from another Ferrari client who has a Challenge Stradale like this client(Identical cars Rosso Scuderia) and a 458.



The client keeps the cars nice as he can but has well water @ his home so I gave him links for products and a CR spotless to prevent the horror I encountered getting the hard water etch of his two Audi's.



First up is the Phantom Black RS4, this was a CPO vehicle he picked up which was a nice car but had seen some "Hackness" in it's life with holograms on the finish and on the clearfilm as well(Big no no using rotary on film........) and the car had been de-badged so there were deep scratches in the removal. Here is the hologram on the film after the wash/decon.

The WORST part of this job was removing the calcium/hard water etch from this grill on the pop up wing...............3 hours spent of tedious re-applications of the gel and fine brush work.

As promised I utilized the "Wolf's Chemicals" ninja approved LSP the "J" aka DSMS aka Dave I have a Valencia Orange 1M Saunders left behind when he was out at my shop a short while ago, applied two coats and even with out sun pics the car is "Dialed in".

So this is used just for dissolving water spotting, not for dulling of plastic trim? Do you recommend a product for honeycomb style grilles that is more of a permanent solution? I'm not looking for a weekly thing, nor something that will come off, and I know you probably have some good recommendations up your sleeve. =D

The "Gel" will work...............it is a tedious process as always and will take repeated applications as sometimes a hard mineral etch will laugh at vinegar, also to chemically break the bond is the only option on plastic and some rubber trim as the option of heavy correction is not possible, also even on paint I like to remove as little clear as possible so I use the gel to soften up the etch so it will release off the surface.



The gel should NOT be used on side mirrors..........it will ruin them, on the mirror itself not the painted or plastic housing to be clear. No "Secret" technique on the grill just "Sweat equity" as always....................when you are two hours in on removing etch on ONE window(Like I am on Range rover right now) it makes those with shall we say "Effort applied" issues question thier commitment to this trade as I had help recently on a car with this very same issue and that person wanted no hand of this part of the job and it was left to me to "Do the do"...........as always.

Once it's clean, Opti-Coat it and you shouldn't have to deal with those problems again.

This is getting real old real fast. I always expect to click on an Auto Concierge thread and be impressed, but the subtle things leave me without words.
