Ferrari 458 Italia... oops, I did it again :).

Jesse, now i'm getting really tired of the same stuff...really. same old stuff, you get a brand new car that is trashed. then you make it seem effortless and you make it perfect - bla, bla, bla. even though the articles are great i'm afraid that the readership is going to go downhill now. so, i propose that you try and do something with those buildings in the background of the parking lot shot. you know which ones i'm talking about. now those have some serious flaws :chuckle: . let's see what you are really made of tough guy :bat.

sorry, i just had to do it :chuckle:. another great result on another beautiful car. amazing!!! :D

That's just crazy Jesse!

Good thing the dealership has someone like you to get the cars back in shape before they're delivered to the customer.

Great work once again!

Cheers Rick! Anytime you're ready to make a guest appearance on a Ferrari save here in Hungary just let me know my friend!

Once again awesome work on the 458. Jesse you rock dude, those F cars are lucky to have somebody of your skill, passion, and caliber!!!!!

How would you compare the paint on the 458 to the 430's in terms of how it responds to polishing? Is it pretty much the same thing? I have three of these to do in June (all black :( ) so any heads up advice from the master would be great!

Great thread
:up:up:up

Thanks for the kind words, Todd! Actually there's a noticeable difference in the 458's paint. Perhaps they've been taking the many complaints about scratched paint jobs (from the factory), because the 458 has a considerably harder finish than its predecessor (including all F-Car models). It's now almost on VW/Audi *NOT Lamborghini* level as far as hardness is concerned... VERY hard. My usual weapons of choice had to be modified this and last time so it threw me for a loop in the beginning. All I can advise is stay away from wool and heavy polishes, stay with the "slowly but surely" cutting combo. Then again, maybe Ferraris in the US have different finishes than here...

Same here, mate... my foot would be up some asses if I saw even my Punto delivered like that!

Damn it Jesse, you got two Italia's and NONE are here stateside yet.............ahhh poo. Todd from what I can see it is biz as usual in Marenello, when the car is painted(with robots btw now)when the mario bros get thier hands on it things go downhill fast. Also there seems to be quite a bit of handling damage from the factory to the dealership with re-sprays not uncommon in my opinion.

Sorry Bob, sometimes living in Europe does have advantages :D! They've put some more hardener in the paint this year, but they fail to realize that the finish they have IS NOT harder than sand/dust/dirt.

Good save as usual Jesse. That 458 looked to be in the exact same condition as the HGTE I just did a few weeks back. I had 18 hours invested in that one...

Thanks Todd! We actually had an HGTE that came from Sweden that looked great, aside from the bumpers...

19hrs on a new car is crazy! Ferrari needs some help.

Glad to see the dealership taking the time to do it right for the client!

Cheers,

GREG

Thanks Greg!

Nice job Jesse as usual. Your work is outstanding.

I'm with Todd and curious about the paint hardness or softness compared to the 430 paint.

I've got one lined up as well so I'm a bit curious.

Nice thread. Josh

Much appreciated, Josh! As said above, noticeably harder than the 430's but again, perhaps they have a different standard for the US than they do for the EU. BMW's, Audis, VW's are diamond-hard here, in the US they're butter!

Jimmie, nothin' but love for ya man :)! I'll try to post some less dramatic stuff soon!

I am extremely surprised Ferrari has not offered you a job as Chief Detailing Officer yet. I know of no other man who could be a more perfect for the job.

Jesse, you might be surprised to here that the newer Audi's and VW's I've worked on had very hard clears. The BMW's are very hit and miss, some hard, some soft, the blue paint jobs seem to be hard and the black soft with BMW's??? go figure.

Josh

Nice job as always, Ferrari should hire you to properly train anyone who is going to touch the car between the factory and the dealer.

Well that's a change for the worse for the US detailers! Hard as diamonds and they still scratch like the softer paints. I don't think car manufacturers have figured out that sand is not harder than their cerami-clears... Yeah the BMW JB horror stories that I read here are insane... and if you think about it, it's really got nothing to do with the paint color itself because the clear is what's hard! What gives???

Cheers Scott :). Well, I'd apply for the job, but I think I'd have a squadron of angry detailers ready to polish my nutz if I started pumping out Fezzas with good finishes :).

sarbuz

ma ma mia

you just melt me

Well I'm sure that in Malaysia that's a completely hetero statement so thank you very much my friend! :D
