Awesome car, how much are you charging for that black stallion?

You are only 15 and doing this car? That's great for you I guess this is an easier profession to get into than I once thought, congrats.

For this car i am charging below my norm but at the end of it i would charge probably about $4-600 probably.

No you were right in your initial thoughts. I have been trying to work on this car for a few months and another one for a few years. I simply got lucky. It seems my bad luck is turning around though as it seems i may be getting a few more higher end exotics.

I would have thought an exotic car owner wouldn't need a break in price, those are the ones you need to make the most off of its the soccer moms that need the break.

You have been trying to line up one car for two years? When you were 13? What were you planning on doing to it take it to a pg13 movie? Your posts only go back a year so it's a little confusing.

Amazing car. Best of luck with the detail! Just a little word of advice to break into the exotic car world. Get insurance. It puts a lot of those owners a little peace of mind. I know it did for mine and now word has spread about my work and the amount of phone calls I've gotten for high end cars has doubled.

Why do you need to charge a High End car more? Just because they have the money to buy a nice car they need charged more? Well the "Soccer Moms" cars I deal with are usually filled with suckers, chips, dog hair. I charge A LOT more to get that crap out.

99.99% of the "High End" cars are usually in pretty damn good condition at the start of the detail...

You need to learn to set a standard price or just charge by the hour and not by the price of vehicle.

This car is for sale by at a used car dealer that i know the owner of. He knows a LOT of high end cars in my area... enough said. When i was 13 i (just like every other detailer in the world) wanted to work on a ferrari...

I have been trying to line up a ferrari of some sort for 3 years, not this particular ferrari because it arrived in our area just 2 weeks ago.

Thanks! Yea, i have been insured for a while now. I am insured for 250k, and can pick up and deliver cars (that is my father or employee can with a valid drivers license).

Thanks stiffdog!

I examine all the cars i work on before i work and quote a price now.

I take offense at this statement and attitude . What makes you think someone that owns a high end car didn't work just as hard as anyone else to achieve their goal ?In my opinion ,with this kind of attitude , you won't be in business for very long .

Agreed.. I charge an hourly rate PERIOD.. Soccer mom's pay the same hourly rate as exotic owners.... Charging some clients more/less than others is a sure way to build a horrible reputation and a terrible business model!

100%.. I think gouging people based on their net worth is not only bad for the person doing it BUT also bad for the image of the industry (an image that is already tarnished thanks to hacks).

When when you go to buy a pizza in a caravan do you pay less than when you go in an F-Car?

When you go to get your hair cut driving a Cavalier does the hairdresser/barber say "I'm just going to charge you 1/2 my normal price"?

When you are pumping gas in a DB9 does the attendant adjust the price to triple what someone in an Accord is paying?

See, I am not going to lie - The final invoice when I do a high end car is ALWAYS more then when I do a run of the mill daily driver BUT that is not because I charged a higher hourly rate BUT it is because the person has an emotional connection with the vehicle and wants to bring it to the next level.

*rant over*

The point is, why would you discount a car that requires the utmost care and highest liability? I didn't suggest giving anyone a discount, you should always charge accordingly, seems like you're doing the car for nothing just to do a nice car.

I'm not a pro by any stretch of the imagination, but my philosophy is this: Your car (And your wallet) will be treated the same whether you're driving a Ferrari or a Fiero.

Also, I wanted to ask Daniel a question....How was the paint on this car? Hard? Soft? Isn't Ferrari paint TYPICALLY fairly easy to work with?

Thanks, Kevin.

I'm ready to start polishing the 360 I'm doing tonight. It's been washed, clayed and washed again. Now I just need to tape it up, and I'm ready to go. Can't wait!

Normally it is. It tends to be on the soft side of average, but not too soft.

Congrats on the job Dan, can't wait to see the results.

As professionals, it's not our job to judge the client, let alone judge them on what their possible net worth is based on a car they drive. We get the car, and detail it to the best of our ability.

Daniel, keep up the good work. You're progressing very quickly!

I agree 100% with this statement. I learned a long time ago that you treat everyone the same regardless of how much money they have and they respect you that much more. I have a client that has 28 cars (yes 2-8) and I give him a bit of a price break but it's not because of the number of cars, it's because of the number of referrals that I get from him.

It absolutely is an easy profession to get into but it is a hard profession to stay in :xyxthumbs

Anyone with a few hundred bucks can get into it and that is why there are so many hacks out there doing horrible things to peoples cars.

It is people like Dan that get into it at a young age and learn learn learn and give the profession a good name. There are not too many people out there that I would let near my vette with a wash mitt but he sure is one of the ones I would :bigups

I wish I had his passion and work ethic at 15 :bigups:bigups:bigups

Can't wait to see the results, I know you'll do a great job !!!!
