Not even close. Sonax Full Effect Wheel Cleaner hands down. I have tried so many different wheel cleaners, and Sonax is just so easy to use and does such a good job with the least amount of agitation required. P21S Gel used to be my favorite, until I tried the Sonax. It is also safe on all wheel types , as it is PH neutral. It's only drawback is the smell. It smells like rotten eggs, but I can live with it.

After posts like this , I'm going to try it out .
Thanks for the tip .

I used Diablo, but am going to switch to AG CWC after recently trying it. For regularly maintained wheels you can cut AG CWC @ 1:1 and save yourself some product while still keeping your wheels clean.

I've used quite a few wheel cleaners over the last 10 years. I've been using Griot's wheel cleaner since 2003. I don't care that I have to agitate it but it works and it doesn't have a strong smell. Too bad it's still mail-order only but 9.99 for 35oz is not that bad. Now they offer a special foaming sprayer that might help with wasting excess product.

Griot's is my favorite wheel cleaner but if I had to run to an autoparts store and pick one up right away I would go with turtle wax because it is non-acid based.

From what I understand, Griot's is very eco-friendly as they claim it's not dangerous if it runs into the sewer.

can anyone reccommend a more eco-friendly cleaner?

Optimum Power Clean at full strength is pretty potent and eco-friendly. it will require a little agitation, but it works very well.

i keep it in an old eagle one foaming sprayer bottle. if the wheel is really soiled, i'll spray the Power Clean, let it soak, then i'll come back every couple minutes and bottle spray it with plain water. it seems to keep it from drying and helps its progress. then you either agitated or rinse and touch up manually during your wash with your normal soap.

Power Clean at 1:1 or even 3:1 is ideal for well-kept wheels. on many well-kept vehicles you can even use 10:1 on the rear wheels.

hey does anybody know why my forum post count is not going up?

I thought that visitors couldn't post? Hmmm...I smell something fishy.

Back to the topic. I have Brown Royal but I hate using it because it's so caustic. Also, last summer I used it on some plastic wheel covers and it stained one of them. It was on there for about a minute before I rinsed it off. Now I just use it to clean tires and wheel wells. It pulls a ton of grime out of tires.
